Dairy Technician Lead
to directly supervise full-time and part-time milkers to maximize productivity in the main parlor as well as the special needs parlor.
Responsibilities:
Conduct weekly team meetings with a focus on individual safety, team safety and production improvement. Build strong working relationships with each team member. Ensure SOPs are followed and look for efficiencies to improve productivity. Schedule shifts for both the main parlor and special needs while always providing minimum coverage. Partner effectively with other Milker Lead(s) and management. Ensure all parlor systems operate correctly and arrange for any necessary repairs with maintenance. Conduct bi-annual performance reviews with team members according to job description. Approve time clock manager for all team members and address discrepancies quickly and accurately. Ensure parlor appearance is "world-class" and ready at all times for visitors to the parlor. Ensure proper animal handling and welfare is always followed; champion a best-in-class culture. Conduct weekly milk cow pen movements. Sort and prepare cows for cull cow loads. Maintain requirements of the state and federal inspections. Monthly inspections and management of milker's housing. Qualifications:
1-3 years of supervisory experience preferred. Previous experience working with animal production systems. Able to work non-traditional hours as required, including 12-hour shifts, nights and weekends. Strong demonstrated team player with good written and verbal communication skills. Spanish language fluency. This individual will be required to work in the external environmental conditions. Must be able to lift a minimum of 100 lbs. Willing and able to do all the physical activities associated with moving, milking and sorting of animals and work in the external environmental conditions.
