Senior Principal Scientist, In Vivo
About the Opportunity
Meadowhawk Biolabs is seeking an enthusiastic and highly motivated Principal Scientist to work within the Discovery In Vivo Pharmacokinetic Team at our Marlborough, MA location to work with rodent models in a fast-paced team environment. The ideal candidate is creative, hardworking, results focused, self-motivated and has direct prior experience in rodent In Vivo study work execution and study management. Given that we are a newly launched Contract Research Organization (CRO) founded by an experienced team of industry veterans, this ground floor position offers unique opportunities for the successful candidate to contribute meaningfully to the creation and development of our services, expand their knowledge base by participation in multidisciplinary teams, and advance their career in capabilities and responsibilities.
Key Roles and Responsibilities:
• Apply deep technical knowledge and experience to optimize the design, development, and execution of In Vivo PK studies
• Independently generate non-compartmental pharmacokinetic parameters
• Ability to investigate and provide effective solutions to anomalous data
• Manage multiple studies simultaneously to provide high quality data under strict timelines.
• Participate in writing, revision, and review of IACUC documents, SOPs and guidelines as appropriate
• Develop, evaluate and deploy impactful new technologies, tools, and processes
• Plan and implement process improvement initiatives, including initiatives across departments and sites
• Direct supervision of up to 5 junior team members
• Responsible for external client communication and management
• Perform all other related duties as assigned
Minimum Education and Qualifications:
Bachelor's or Master's degree in biology, biochemistry, pharmaceutical sciences, or another related scientific field with a minimum of 12 years (BS) or 10 years (MS) directly related industry experience. Equivalent combination of education, training, and experience will be considered as substitution for the specific requirements outlined above.
• Strong background working with animal models with close adherence to animal welfare policies
• In-depth knowledge of various dose administration and blood collection techniques in rats and mice
• Ability to execute all aspects of In Vivo studies (formulation preparation, dose administration, blood collections, and sample processing)
Skills:
• Strong leadership qualities
• Highly organized and detail-oriented in data recording and review
• Excellent interpersonal, written, and verbal communication skills
• Thrives in a fast-paced, collaborative team environment
• Previous experience mentoring junior staff preferred
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office required (Excel, Word, PowerPoint)
