The Security Lead/Project Engineer will be responsible for working solo or leading technicians and installers in security installations and integrations. They will play a critical role in being the technical lead in all aspects of the security integration, working independently or with assistance from remote engineering team to overcome complex project challenges. They will provide support and direction to the installers based on the project specifications and requirements of the security systems and jobsites. As the Project Engineer, you will play a crucial role in supporting the overall project and company success from design, submittal, approval, procurement, installation, commissioning, and closeout.
Duties and Responsibilities:
Manage the access control and/or video surveillance system installation to ensure optimal functionality and security. Troubleshoot and resolve issues related to security systems in a timely manner. Provide project-based technical support and training to end-users on the security systems. Maintain accurate documentation of configurations, shop drawings, changes, and incidents. Evaluate installation products based on project specifications and cost of materials. Create submittal packages for electronic security equipment and installation materials. Integrate systems with alarms, fire systems, elevator systems, and security networks. Provide technical leadership to the site installation team. Work safely and responsibly to avoid injury/property damage, while maintaining a clean work area Terminate door hardware, card readers, cameras, and security components as required. Install and terminate access control panels and power supplies as required. Install and terminate VSS Network switches and cabling as required. Oversee and validate installation of security systems. Program access control server(s), access control panel(s), video management servers, VSS network switches, cameras, and security components to provide fully functioning systems. Work with the owner's IT department to ensure correct network configurations and compliance for electronic security systems. Adhere to the contracted scope of work and work with the Site Superintendent and/or Project Manager to identify out of scope work. Strong knowledge of industry standards (BICSI, NEC, TIA/EIA) Attend any job site required meetings. Provide feedback to Site Superintendent and/or Project Manager on installation progress, lead-times, scheduling, and work to complete.
Qualifications & Experience:
7+ years hands-on experience with Access Control, CCTV/VSS, and Intrusion Systems (preferred). Associate's degree or equivalent experience. Software programming knowledge. Commissioning, testing, and closeout. Knowledge of IP networking, AC/DC electronics, and security infrastructure. Ability to read blueprints, specifications, and contract requirements and work independently. Excellent organizational skills. Excellent customer service skills. Ability to handle changing priorities and work well under pressure whilst presenting a positive image. Must be comfortable working unsupervised and also effectively communicating and collaborating with teams of 4 to 20 technicians and installers. Must be willing and able to work in a variety of environments including climbing ladders, scaffolds, and high-lift equipment, working around mechanical equipment, above ceilings, and in outside/inside/heat/cold/day/night conditions; use hand tools, laptop, email, smartphone, and tablet; differentiate types/colors of wire, carry and move equipment and tools weighing up to 50 pounds unassisted Certifications with Brivo, Verkada, Lenel, S2, Amag, Genetec, ONSSI, Bosch, Axis, Software House, or similar.
