Under the general direction of a Building Maintenance Supervisor, the Building Maintenance Technician plays a vital role in ensuring the efficient operation of facilities through skilled maintenance in areas such as plumbing, carpentry, and painting. This position involves repairing plumbing systems, drywall, locks, and roofs, as well as painting both interior and exterior surfaces to maintain the visual appeal and functionality of the buildings. The Building Maintenance Technician is responsible for safely operating equipment, driving to various work sites, and maintaining cleanliness upon task completion. This position requires flexibility to work rotating shifts, including days, evenings, overnights, weekends, and holidays, to meet the demands of our 24/7 operations. Requires availability for emergency call-in. SUPERVISES OTHERS: NO FLSA STATUS: NON-EXEMPT COMPENSATION: $22.82 - $25.55 Based on Experience ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS Performs repairs and adjustments to plumbing systems, including water lines, fixtures, and related equipment to ensure functionality. Repairs and maintains drywall, furniture, locks, and roofs to enhance safety and aesthetics within the facilities. Paints interior and exterior surfaces of buildings to maintain visual appeal and protect against wear and tear. Operates lifts and motorized equipment safely to facilitate various maintenance tasks efficiently. Conducts thorough cleaning of work sites upon task completion to maintain a safe and organized environment. Assists and supports other trades as needed based on operational requirements. Monitors and reports any safety hazards or maintenance needs identified during service calls or inspections. Adhere to all safety protocols and regulations while performing tasks to ensure a safe working environment, including proper use of personal protective equipment (PPE) and reporting potential hazards. Regular and reliable attendance is required as an essential function of the position.

REQUIRED FOR ALL HCAA JOBS In the event of an emergency or disaster that impacts the Hillsborough County Aviation Authority (HCAA), an employee may be required to respond promptly to duties and responsibilities as assigned by the employee’s department or the HCAA Emergency Operations Center (EOC). Such assignments may be before, during, or after an emergency/disaster. Complies with all HCAA Policies, Standard Procedures, Rules and Regulations, and Operating Directives. QUALIFICATIONS (EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE, LICENSES & CERTIFICATIONS) High School Diploma or equivalent.

One (1) – three (3) year experience in multiple trades such as plumbing, carpentry, painting, and general maintenance or related vocational training.

Or equivalent combination of education, training, and experience.

Must possess a valid Florida Driver License.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES Knowledge of building maintenance principles, techniques, and best practices to ensure efficient operations. Knowledge of plumbing systems, carpentry, painting, and general repair methods necessary for facility upkeep. Knowledge of safety procedures and regulations related to maintenance tasks to ensure a safe working environment. Ability to communicate effectively orally and in writing. Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with others within and outside the Authority. Ability to handle restricted, sensitive, and confidential information. Ability to provide outstanding customer service, serve the public, and represent the Authority with courtesy and professionalism. PHYSICAL ABILITIES Standing and sitting up to 6 hours per day.

Frequent sitting.

Lifting up to 50 Ibs or more.

Very frequent bending & stooping.

Frequent pushing, pulling, dragging, reaching overhead, kneeling, crawling & climbing.

Frequent typing.
