Arcadis is currently seeking a highly motivated Principal System Planning and Studies Engineer to join the Power Delivery & Renewable team. Arcadis Power Delivery group partners with clients to provide comprehensive plans that incorporate all aspects of their projects. This is a senior Lead Technical position within the Power Delivery & Renewable unit. The role requires interfacing with the Arcadis power delivery team, including the System Planning and Studies Team, with technical and project management assignments, project engineering, proposal management and business development. The incumbent will manage day-to-day client engagement, project and proposal coordination, project execution, resource planning, and hands-on technical solution delivery. The position ensures project execution in accordance with applicable codes and standards, including Arcadis policies and procedures (Safety, Environmental, Quality Assurance and Quality Control). The incumbent will work closely with other Power Delivery departments and Arcadis business divisions and sectors. The role involves coordinating the Power Delivery & Renewables (PD&R) team and performing hands-on all aspects of power system planning and studies for utility and developer clients in North America. It also involves collaboration with other renewable energy teams (e.g., wind, solar, green H2) within Arcadis. As part of the PD&R team, you will help improve quality of life. Role accountabilities Manage and grow System Planning & Studies team working with Power Delivery & Renewables Leader and Manager of System Planning and Studies group. Ensure resource planning and utilization of the team on large/complex projects and perform quality reviews. Perform and coordinate HVAC and HVDC power systems analysis activities including load-flow, short-circuit, transient stability, electromagnetic transient, small-signal stability analysis, reliability analysis, interconnection studies, system impact studies, etc. Lead/oversee the continuous development of enhanced power system planning & studies processes, methodologies and tools for quality and efficiencies, and for ensuring leadership in technical expertise and innovation. Act as Project Manager, Proposal Manager, Program Manager, Account Manager and Technical Lead to support services and plan, develop, and grow power delivery clients goals and business growth for the region Serve as a mentor to junior team members. Conduct quality assurance/quality control on the work of other system planning engineers. Participate in meetings with clients, contractors, and vendors to support business development and project execution. Collaborate with the Power Delivery & Renewables (PD&R) Leader to develop plans for client development, account growth, department growth, resource planning, winning and execution strategy, quality control improvement, and overall project financial performance to meet PD&R team success.
Travel up to 20% to client sites and meetings, within North America and potentially internationally, may be required. Qualifications & Experience Required Bachelors degree in Electrical Engineering Minimum of 12 years of relevant experience in Power System Planning and Studies with experience on North American market operators (MISO, PJM, NE-ISO, NY-ISO, ERCOT, CAISO, SPP) policies, guidelines, regulations, rules, requirements, and criteria as applicable to grid interconnection, performance and planning, testing, especially related to bulk power systems. Experience in leading and/or performing planning/feasibility studies, interconnection studies, transient studies and systems analysis investigations for utility and developer clients in North America Proficiency with PSCAD and PSSE software (load-flow, short-circuit, transient stability). Familiarity with alternative planning tools (TARA, PSLF, DigSILENT, DSA Tools). PE License certification is required.
