High school diploma or equivalent Position Summary
Sponsored Projects Administration, Pre-Award is the central pre-award or sponsored projects office at the University of Georgia. The office manages a portfolio of approximately 2,500 awards annually, totaling more than $441 million in FY21. Work is considered highly professional and technical, involving the review and processing of research and other types of grant proposals, negotiation of awards and contracts, and a variety of post-award non-financial administrative duties (no-cost extensions, amendments, compliance, problem-solving, etc.). The incumbent will join several other research administrators in SPA. This employee focuses on administrative support and maintaining a caseload of outbound sub-awards and subcontracts spanning a group of UGA departments, colleges, centers, or institutes. Highly professional customer service drives all activities in SPA. The employee will promote application of uniform guidance, sponsor rules and regulations, and UGA policies and procedures as it relates to sub-award and subcontract preparation, and provide assistance to faculty, staff, and graduate students in this regard. The employee will manage a caseload, engage in data entry in UGAMart, and the Grants Portal, and liaise with other institutions of higher education on behalf of the University and the Research Foundation. Responsibilities
Assembles sub-award and subcontract packages based on documents and data provided by Grants Specialists and Grants Officers in compliance with federal, state, and sponsor rules and regulations as well as UGA policies and procedures. Initiates these sub-awards/subcontracts on behalf of the University of Georgia and the Research Foundation and issues the same to subrecipients for signature. Prepares and records modifications to sub-awards and subcontracts including re-budgets, No Cost Extensions, and other administrative post-award changes, and issues the same to subrecipients for signature. Records and encumbers sub-awards and subcontracts, as well as amendments in the Grants Portal and the UGA Procurement System, UGAMart. Manages the central email account for Sponsored Projects Pre-Award and other duties as assigned. Obtains compliance approvals for Awards and Modifications processed by the contract and award teams and ensures all documents are in the award workspace. Creates cover pages for UGARF awards.
