Job Summary
The Mechanical Maintenance Technician is responsible for maintaining, repairing, and rebuilding plant machinery and equipment to ensure safe and efficient operation. This role includes hands-on work with automated packaging equipment, mechanical drive systems, conveyors, pumps, and various tools. The technician will read and interpret technical manuals and drawings, perform preventative and corrective maintenance, and support plant operations while adhering to safety and operational standards.
Job Responsibilities Use hand tools, power tools, rigging equipment, and man-lifts for maintenance tasks Operate shop equipment such as mills, lathes, band saws, and presses as needed Measure, cut, and glue PVC pipe and fittings for repairs or installations Repair or rebuild defective machinery using drawings, manuals, and sample parts Install and replace bearings, seals, belts, chains, and other components of automated equipment Perform shaft alignment and maintain mechanical drive systems, conveyors, and various pump types Lubricate machinery according to schedules and manufacturer recommendations Read, interpret, and update technical manuals and drawings Utilize software tools (SAP, Microsoft Suite, Internet, Process Book, FactoryTalk) to create/edit work orders, track time, look up parts, troubleshoot equipment, and communicate via email Demonstrate effective written and verbal communication skills Maintain strong interpersonal skills to interact with stakeholders at all levels Demonstrate self-motivation and ability to work with limited supervision Commit to plant non-negotiables and safety standards Required Skills
Hands-on experience with mechanical maintenance and repair Knowledge of automated packaging equipment Proficiency with hand and power tools, shop equipment, and rigging tools Ability to read and interpret technical manuals, drawings, and schematics Knowledge of shaft alignment techniques and mechanical drive systems Proficiency with software tools including SAP, Microsoft Office, and process control software Strong communication, interpersonal, and problem-solving skills Self-motivated and able to work independently Preferred Skills
Experience with bearings, seals, belts, chains, conveyors, and pump maintenance Experience in automated manufacturing or packaging environments Familiarity with preventive maintenance practices and safety protocols
Education
High School Diploma or GED required; Associate degree or technical training preferred
