We are a leading provider of professional liability insurance, especially acclaimed for our claims service in the Lawyers and Architects & Engineers (A&E) sectors. We are currently seeking a motivated and customer-oriented Senior Complex Claims Consultant to oversee high-exposure, technically challenging claims involving both Architects & Engineers and Lawyers Professional Liability. This exciting hybrid role is designed for individuals with deep expertise in evaluating coverage, assessing liability and damages, directing litigation, and negotiating settlements across these specialized fields. In our collaborative environment, our claims professionals utilize their specialized skills to ensure early, accurate reserving, ongoing evaluations, and efficient claim resolution. You’ll engage proactively to resolve claims effectively and consistently exceed client expectations through exceptional communication and service delivery. Your key responsibilities will include managing a diverse caseload of primary, excess, and quota share policies while following corporate procedures. You will review coverage, analyze liability and damages, direct litigation, negotiate settlements, and navigate complex policy interpretations under general management guidance, utilizing your technical expertise. This position offers a flexible, hybrid work schedule with opportunities available at CNA offices. Key Responsibilities: Handle a portfolio of highly complex claims with significant exposures that require advanced technical coordination. Provide exceptional customer service by managing all aspects of the claims process and ensuring timely updates. Interpret policy language to verify coverage and set adequate reserves. Lead investigations to establish compensability, liability, and damages through documentation and expert consultations. Collaborate with internal and external partners to resolve claims effectively, manage reserves, and negotiate settlements. Oversee claim budgets and drive timely resolutions while ensuring high-quality service. Identify and address subrogation and salvage opportunities or potential fraud. Maintain compliance and subject matter expertise in regulatory matters. Mentor and train less experienced claims professionals. Skills and Qualifications: Extensive knowledge of specialty insurance products, policy language, coverage, and claims practices. Excellent verbal and written communication skills with the ability to communicate complex information clearly. Strong analytical and critical thinking skills to evaluate and resolve ambiguous business issues. Proficient in managing time and organizational skills to meet fast-paced demands. Ability to navigate shifting priorities in a dynamic environment. Experience in negotiating complex settlements and interpreting commercial insurance policies. Proficiency in the Microsoft Office Suite and an aptitude for learning business-specific software. A commitment to fostering a diverse and inclusive work environment. Education and Experience: Bachelor's Degree or equivalent experience. A minimum of six years of relevant experience, preferably in claims handling. Must be able to obtain and maintain an Insurance Adjuster License within 90 days of hire. Previous negotiation experience is required. Professional designations such as CPCU are preferred. In Illinois/New York/California, the average base pay range for this role is $113,000 to $160,000, with considerations based on relevant work experience, skills, certifications, and location.
