Are you a hands-on controls electrician who enjoys building systems from scratch? Planet Tool and Engineering is a machine shop with a custom engineering department that designs and builds one-of-a-kind machinery. We're looking for someone who can wire control panels, install and commission systems, and assist with programming and troubleshooting PLCs and automation hardware. This role is ideal for someone who takes pride in building clean, efficient, and safe electrical systems and wants to be part of a team that builds machines no one else does. You will work closely with our engineers and machinists to bring unique equipment to life from initial build through startup. Key Responsibilities

Build and wire industrial control panels based on electrical schematics. Install and connect control panels, field devices, and conduit on custom machines. Assist with PLC programming and HMI setup (primarily Allen-Bradley). Troubleshoot and debug control systems, including motors, sensors, and VFDs. Read and interpret ladder logic, wiring diagrams, and engineering drawings. Collaborate with engineers and machinists during machine development. Ensure all work meets safety standards and complies with electrical codes. Participate in machine startup, testing, and commissioning at our shop and customer sites. Willingness and ability to travel will be necessary. Travel is not often and varies based on the customer's location. Note, that this job requires crawling and climbing around equipment to run wires and install components. Qualifications

Familiarity with PLC troubleshooting and programming (Allen-Bradley preferred). Ability to read and understand electrical schematics and ladder diagrams.
