We are seeking a skilled Maintenance Technician PLC to join a large-scale manufacturing operation in Chicago. This role focuses on electrical troubleshooting, PLC systems, and instrumentation to ensure safe and efficient plant operations. Responsibilities
Troubleshoot and repair electrical systems, PLCs, control panels, relays, breakers, communication systems, and alarms.
Install and commission electrical equipment with minimal supervision.
Diagnose problems, replace faulty components, and perform advanced wiring assignments.
Support and troubleshoot VFDs, 3-phase motors, and sensors (temperature, pressure, level).
Provide technical assistance to junior maintenance staff.
Follow all safety and sanitation protocols in a food-grade, unionized environment.
Requirements
High School Diploma or GED plus formal apprenticeship or equivalent.
Minimum 3 years of
industrial/manufacturing
maintenance experience.
Strong electrical background with proven PLC troubleshooting ability.
Ability to wire/test 3-phase motors and calibrate industrial sensors.
Preferred Qualifications
PLC programming experience (Allen-Bradley, Siemens, or similar).
Control panel installation and troubleshooting.
Experience with sanitary or hazardous process instrumentation in food or consumer goods facilities.
You should be proficient in: Creating Preventive Maintenance Plans Mechanical Troubleshooting Skills 120/208/240/480 Voltage Systems Electrical Installation Electrical Troubleshooting Electrical Repair OSHA 10-Hour Certification (OSHA 10) Pneumatics Troubleshooting Machine Safety Inspections Machines & technologies you'll use: Variable Frequency Drives (VFD) Programmable Logic Controller (PLC) (Allen Bradley, Mitsubishi, Omron, Siemens, Schneider Electric, Modicon) Conveyor Systems (Dematic, Hytrol, Alba, Wulftec) Servo Motors
