Our employees are not only part of history, they're making history. Northrop Grumman Defense Systems is seeking a Mechanical Engineering Manager 2. This position is in Huntsville, AL and supports the Nuclear-Armed Sea-Launched Cruise Missile program. This role may offer a competitive relocation assistance package. What you'll get to do: Manage flight system integration of multiple subsystems Work closely with IPT counterparts to perform flight system trade studies and support critical early program systems engineering and programmatic stand-up Control Account Manager (CAM) for multiple Tier-2 suppliers Support and monitor technical performance baselines Identify and address impacts through a systematic and proactive approach to Risk and Opportunity Management Manage and balance communications with stakeholders Effectively plan, define, establish, communicate, monitor, and control scope Address subcontract uncertainty through an organized and analytical forward-looking approach As CAM, oversee and provide financial control and maintenance of budgets including EVMS metrics Interprets schedules from suppliers to understand impact on program schedule and milestones Reviews supplier proposal responses Position benefits as a full-time employee of Northrop Grumman include medical, dental & vision coverage, 401k, educational assistance, life insurance, employee assistance programs & work/life solutions, paid time off, health & wellness resources, and employee discounts. This position's standard work schedule is a 9/80. You'll bring these qualifications: Bachelor's degree in a Science, Technology, Engineering or Mathematics (STEM) discipline and 6 years of related experience, or 4 years of related experience with Master's degree in a STEM discipline Must have an active U.S. Government DoD Secret security clearance at time of application, current and within scope, with the ability to obtain an U.S. Government DoD Top Secret security clearance Minimum of 1 year experience leading a project and/or driving performance against cost and schedule Experience supporting U.S. Government contracts and/or large supplier management portfolio experience in other industries Experience leading projects and managing cross functional teams, budgets, and schedules Experience managing a Program effort or Major Subcontract (in either a supply chain, SMT, or program/project management role) These qualifications would be nice to have: PMP Certification Experience with mechanical engineering design and CAD tools like Siemens NX Experience with product lifecycle management tools like Siemens Teamcenter PLM Demonstrated understanding of Lean, Agile or Six Sigma Tools Experience with specific tools available for Subcontract management Experience in early design phases Project/Program Management skills Proven ability to deliver effective communication verbally, written, and through well-crafted presentations Ability to demonstrate independent creative thinking and problem-solving capabilities Manage multiple projects concurrently in meeting customer requirements Financial experience in EVMS or similar cost and schedule management system Experience and knowledge of Navy programs Experience and working knowledge of Cruise Missiles Customer-focused mindset with proven leadership skills and excellent communication skills Proficiency driving programmatic battle rhythm Primary level salary range: $135,800.00 - $203,600.00. The above salary range is a general guideline; however, Northrop Grumman considers a number of factors when determining base salary offers. Depending on the position, employees may be eligible for overtime, shift differential, and a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay. Annual bonuses are designed to reward individual contributions as well as allow employees to share in company results. Employees in Vice President or Director positions may be eligible for Long Term Incentives.
