Wild West Systems Inc.
About Wild West Systems
Wild West Systems is a defense technology startup redefining autonomous edge defense through modular, AI-powered weapon systems-designed, built, and launched in the USA. We're arming the future warfighter with precision, affordability, and swagger. If you're ready to embrace the grit and chaos of cutting-edge defense innovation, welcome to the frontier.
Why This Role Matters
As our
Senior Electrical Engineer , you'll architect the nervous system of our autonomous weapons platforms. From schematics to PCB layout, from board bring-up to characterization, you'll own the full hardware electrical stack. You're not just an engineer-you're a systems-level thinker, a relentless debugger, and a battlefield enabler. Your work will be embedded in the machines defending tomorrow's freedom.
Responsibilities
Design & Layout : Own board-level electrical design from schematic capture to final PCB layout and manufacturing handoff.
Board Bring-Up & Characterization : Lead bring-up of new hardware, including firmware loading, signal integrity validation, and electrical debugging.
Manufacturing Interface : Work closely with contract manufacturers and internal teams to ensure DFM compliance and successful board builds.
Cross-Disciplinary Integration : Collaborate deeply with mechanical, firmware, and systems teams to tightly integrate electronics with electromechanical systems.
Ignition & Power Systems : Apply your deep knowledge of mechatronics and ignition methods (including induction systems) to support next-gen weapon effects.
Documentation & Validation : Create detailed documentation for schematics, layout, testing procedures, and interface requirements.
Mission Support : Travel occasionally to proving grounds for system integration and live-fire support.
Velocity & Ownership : Push designs from napkin sketch to fielded hardware-fast. Own your stack with pride and accountability.
Required Qualifications
Proven expertise in schematic design, PCB layout, and board-level design using industry-standard tools (e.g., Altium, KiCAD).
Deep experience with board bring-up, signal integrity analysis, and electrical debugging.
Hands-on experience with power systems, ignition/induction circuitry, and electromechanical integration.
Strong foundation in mechatronics and embedded hardware architecture.
U.S. citizenship or ITAR-compliant status (green card, refugee/asylee, or eligible for required export authorization).
Self-directed, execution-focused mindset with a high tolerance for ambiguity and iteration.
Eagerness to work in a fast-paced, defense-focused startup environment with mission-critical outcomes.
Preferred Experience
Background in the defense sector or working on classified or ITAR-restricted programs.
Experience with high-voltage or ignition systems (e.g., capacitive discharge, induction, or electromagnetic launch).
Knowledge of MIL-STD compliance and ruggedized system design.
Experience in rapid prototyping environments or small-team, high-impact engineering efforts.
Familiarity with EMC/EMI mitigation strategies in PCB design.
What You'll Find at Wild West Systems
A high-velocity, mission-driven culture that thrives on grit, ingenuity, and disruption.
The chance to architect-literally build-the future of autonomous drone defense.
Clear impact: your designs go from CAD to combat, fast.
A tight-knit team that's rewriting the rules of engagement for a new era in warfare.
