Overview

The City of North Port is seeking a

Planning and Zoning Manager . Located along Floridas Gulf coast, the City prides itself on innovative planning practices with a focus on achieving a thriving and lasting built environment for residents. The Planning and Zoning Manager oversees the Planning and Zoning Division. General responsibilities include management of division activities including special planning studies and projects, current and long-range planning functions, and supervision of division staff. The Planning and Zoning Manager interprets and implements the Comprehensive Plan, Unified Land Development Code, and other applicable plans and codes; participates in meetings with the Planning and Zoning Advisory Board, Zoning Hearing Officer, and City Commission; composes staff reports and participates in development review; and reviews the work of employees in the division. Salary and Benefits

Salary range : $93,793.53 - $150,069.65 annually. The benefits package includes 13 paid holidays, vacation/sick leave, and remote/flexible work schedules subject to department approval. Responsibilities Manage the Planning and Zoning Division, including special planning studies and projects, current and long-range planning, and supervision of division staff. Interpret and implement the Comprehensive Plan, Unified Land Development Code, and other applicable plans and codes. Participate in meetings with the Planning and Zoning Advisory Board, Zoning Hearing Officer, and City Commission; prepare staff reports; participate in development review; review the work of division employees. Perform additional duties as assigned; maintain professional standards and compliance with city policies.

Qualifications

Experience Level: Mid II (4-8 years). AICP level preferred in Community or Neighborhood Development.
