Overview

Joby Aviation is seeking a highly capable Technical Safety Analyst to join the Safety Team to contribute to continuous improvement in the safety of our development and production aircraft. This individual will possess a strong understanding of the developmental safety process, data analytics, and Safety Management System. They will work with the Flight Test and Engineering teams to understand and address safety aspects of aircraft issues during testing in a fast-moving development environment. The position is located in Santa Cruz, California and travel to offsite test locations is required. Responsibilities Investigate incidents, determine technical corrective actions, and share findings with relevant engineers. Provide a technical safety perspective to help resolve issues discovered during developmental testing, under the oversight of the Technical Safety Lead. Continuously improve aircraft safety through application of Safety Management System (SMS). Apply data analytics to identify emerging risks and anticipate future issues as part of Safety Risk Management (SRM) and support collection of safety data and statistics to support safety assurance (SA). Lead Root Cause and Corrective Action investigations with Flight Test, Engineering, and other departments to drive improvements back to aircraft requirements and design. Prepare presentations, analyses, and reports for internal and external reviews and safety boards; participate in safety committees as required. Support the broader safety team in company safety programs. Other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

3 years of system safety experience in an aircraft development environment. Bachelors degree with Aviation Safety specialty or equivalent experience. Comprehensive data analysis and statistical skills. Knowledgeable in investigative techniques and tools. Experience with SMS, SRM and SA.

Desired

Formal Safety Training (Military, FAA, NTSB, SCSI, Collegiate). Advanced degree. Experience working with developmental aircraft. FAA or Military pilot or maintenance certifications. Project management experience. Experience with human factors in aviation. Experience with airplane development and certification.

Additional Information

Compensation at Joby is a combination of base pay and Restricted Stock Units (RSUs). The target base pay for this position is $71,900 - $108,700/year. The compensation package will be determined by job-related knowledge, skills, and experience.
