Responsibilities & Duties
Design, implement, and maintain VMware vSphere environments (ESXi, vCenter, vSAN). Monitor system performance and troubleshoot issues across computer, storage, and network layers. Manage virtual machine provisioning, resource allocation, and lifecycle operations. Perform patching, upgrades, and configuration changes in line with change management policies. Implement and test disaster recovery and backup strategies using tools like Veeam or similar. Collaborate with security teams to enforce compliance and hardening standards. Automate routine tasks using PowerCLI, PowerShell, or other scripting tools. Document infrastructure configurations, procedures, and best practices. Provide Tier 2 support for escalated virtualization-related incidents. Qualifications
2+ years of experience in VMware administration or engineering roles. Strong knowledge of VMware vSphere, vCenter, vSAN, and related technologies. Experience with Windows and/or Linux server administration in virtualized environments. Familiarity with networking concepts (VLANs, vSwitches, NSX a plus). Proficiency in scripting for automation (PowerShell, PowerCLI). Understanding of backup, replication, and disaster recovery strategies. VMware Certified Professional (VCP) or equivalent experience preferred. Strong analytical, problem-solving, and troubleshooting skills. Excellent communication and teamwork abilities. Preferred Skills
Experience with hybrid cloud environments (e.g., VMware Cloud on AWS, Azure VMware Solution). Familiarity with infrastructure-as-code tools (Terraform, Ansible). Exposure to monitoring tools like vRealize Operations, SolarWinds, or PRTG. Knowledge of ITIL practices and change management workflows. Environmental and Physical Requirements
The work environment for this position is a standard office setting. The employee is regularly required to sit, stand, walk, and use hands to operate a computer and other office equipment.
