Job Title: VMware VCloud Engineer Location: Lynnwood WA, USA Onsite role Pay rate: $50-55/hr on W2 or $60-65/hr on C2C Role Summary VMware Vcloud Engineer to manage and support our on-premises data center infrastructure, with a focus on VMware DCV technologies and legacy vCloud Director environments (8.x/9.x). The role requires hands-on experience in VMware virtualization, cloud resource management, and multi-tenant architecture, with a strong understanding of legacy networking and storage integrations.

Key Responsibilities • Maintain and monitor physical servers, storage systems, and networking equipment. • Perform hardware diagnostics, upgrades, and lifecycle management. • Ensure data center security, power, cooling, and cabling standards. • Administer VMware vSphere, vCenter, and ESXi hosts. • Perform VM provisioning, resource optimization, and performance tuning. • Implement HA, DRS, vMotion, and storage policies. • Install, configure, and maintain legacy vCloud Director environments (vCD 8.x/9.x). • Manage vCD cells, PostgreSQL/Oracle databases, and vCenter integrations. • Configure and troubleshoot Provider VDCs, Org VDCs, and vApps. • Integrate and manage NSX-V or vShield Manager for network services. • Maintain catalogs, templates, and tenant configurations. • Monitor system performance and ensure high availability. • Perform upgrades and patching of vCD components. • Document procedures and provide training to junior staff. • Collaborate with infrastructure, networking, and security teams. • Perform capacity planning, performance tuning, and troubleshooting across virtual infrastructure.

Required Skills • Strong experience with VMware vSphere, vCenter, and ESXi. • Hands-on with vCloud Director 8.x/9.x architecture and operations. • Familiarity with NSX-V, vShield Manager, and legacy networking models. • Experience with Linux (RHEL/CentOS) and shell scripting. • Knowledge of PostgreSQL or Oracle DB administration. • Understanding of multi-tenancy, vApps, and cloud resource allocation. • Excellent troubleshooting and documentation skills.

Good to Know / Bonus Skills • Familiarity with VMware vCloud Suite components. • Experience with vRealize Automation (vRA) for self-service provisioning. • Knowledge of vRealize Operations (vROps) for performance and capacity monitoring. • Exposure to PowerCLI, Bash, or Python for automation tasks. • Networking concepts understanding of TCP/IP, VLANs, routing, firewalls, and DNS. • Familiarity with SAN/NAS, RAID configurations, and storage provisioning. • Experience with tools like vRealize Operations, Nagios, or similar.

Preferred Qualifications • VMware certifications: VCP-DCV, VCP-CMA.
