Rutgers, The State University of New Jersey, is seeking an Information Security Analyst (Information Security Engineer). Reporting to the Manager of Platform Network Security, Operations, and Delivery in Enterprise Infrastructure, this position will be responsible for enterprise networking security infrastructure and work with senior management staff to develop, design, and manage network and security engineering solutions, posture and policies within the Enterprise Infrastructure Platform Services team. This role will provide leadership in decisions about enterprise network security and the enforcement policy of supporting tools. The senior security engineer will serve as a mentor to staff, be an active contributor in all relative disciplines, and work with departments throughout the university's Security Analyst (Information Security Engineer) for the Office of Information Technology. Among the key duties of this position are the following: Keeps abreast of all pertinent federal, state, and Rutgers regulations, laws, and policies as they presently exist and as they change or are modified. Provides exceptional network security leadership, technical knowledge, and ability in support of security operations staff and initiatives. Designs and manages enterprise network security solutions and services at the enterprise edge, datacenter, and business unit level. Builds and maintains relationships with departments and business units across the University. Develops strategic vision for present and future state of operational security. Stays current with security trends/technology and represent the institution through professional organizations and established academic working groups. Serves the Enterprise Infrastructure Security team as a senior technical resource and escalation point. Assumes a leadership role in providing an enterprise framework, ensuring that technology assets are secured proactively in pursuit of the highest degree of service availability. Provides exceptional technical knowledge and skills to network projects, helping to ensure accurate and timely implementation. Develops the University enterprise security infrastructure and security implementation processes to adhere to industry governance and compliance requirements. Leads the installation, maintenance and troubleshooting of Enterprise-wide network security equipment in support of university policies and procedures, including Firewalls (NGFW), intrusion detection/prevention systems, VPN concentrators, network monitoring and analytical tools (e.g., SIEM). Works directly with departments and external partners to ensure that electronic data transmissions are encrypted and protected, such that they comply with university policy, industry standards, and compliance requirements. Evaluates and supports Enterprise Security technologies. Plans and executes infrastructure security efforts. Recommends and implements procedures and technologies for improving functionality, usability, and availability. Documents Enterprise security infrastructure, including network topology diagrams and procedural documentation. Remains abreast of technology direction and its relevance to the University's mission by accessing appropriate professional journals, attending formal training, and participating in the meetings and conferences of professional organizations/societies at local, state, and national levels. Qualifications
Minimum Education and Experience
A bachelor's degree or an equivalent combination of education and/or experience. Equivalent education, experience, and/or training may be substituted for the degree requirements. Five (5) years of progressively more responsible experience in a technical environment. Certifications/Licenses
Use of personal vehicle in order to travel for business demands; a valid driver's license would be required for this position. Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
Demonstrated expertise and excellence in design, implementation, and management of complex technical systems and environments. Must have extensive experience working in a technical setting and a strong understanding of workflow, policies, and procedures regarding infrastructure security. In-depth knowledge of security hardware, security software, and security analysis. Proficient in layer 2 and layer 3 WAN and LAN topology, with knowledge in IP network analysis, BGP, and troubleshooting. Demonstrated ability to identify and solve problems of high technical complexity. Strong familiarity with network/information security systems theory and design. A broad understanding of network connectivity, security architecture and policy development in large, complex environments. Demonstrated progressively higher levels of responsibility, culminating in positions with senior level hands-on design and implementation requirements. Strong verbal and written communication skills. Ability to develop quality technical documentation. Current Cisco and Palo Alto network security experience. Ability to communicate and promote ideas and transfer detailed technical knowledge to others. Preferred Qualifications
6+ years of security experience. Vulnerability scanning, penetration testing, and security operations. 6+ years' experience working in an enterprise network, handling and securing high risk data. Certifications: SANS, Cisco, Palo Alto, CompTIA Security+, ISC2, CISSP.
