Position Summary

Rutgers, The State University of New Jersey is seeking a Consulting Systems Programmer/Admin (Research Systems/Security Architect) for the Office of Advanced Research Computing. Reporting to the Associate Vice President for Advanced Research Computing, the Consulting Systems Programmer/Admin (Research Systems/Security Architect) plays a critical role in ensuring the design, architecture and implementation of research compute projects. Among the key duties of the position are the following: Designs and runs a comprehensive information security program for research to ensure compliance with regulatory requirements. Shortens the time-to-science and improve the competitiveness of grant applications. Works closely with other technology enterprise architects in the areas of Infrastructure, Network and Information Security. Develops, implements, and maintains policies and procedures for Rutgers faculty and staff in regards to research data to ensure full compliance with all applicable requirements. Interprets and aligns institutional practices with local, state, and federal laws, as well as regulations and mandates issued by external research agencies and funding bodies. Monitors changes in regulatory landscapes, evaluating their impact on university operations, and proactively updating policies to safeguard institutional compliance. Works collaboratively with research community, data scientists and enterprise infrastructure to architect and design high performance computing solutions that align with their needs and comply with all relevant regulatory and security requirements. Minimum Education and Experience

Bachelor's degree and seven (7) years of experience in Information Technology, including three (3) years of experience in either research computing and/or security; or an equivalent combination of education and/or experience. Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

Knowledge of security frameworks and federal, state or industry security regulations including

NIST

800-171/ CUI . Experience with Risk Management, security plan development, and incident response, Proficiency in using security tools and technologies. Experience in conducting security audits and assessments. Knowledge of technical infrastructure, networks, databases and systems. This position requires both a strong security background and infrastructure architecture experience in a research computing environment. Preferred Qualifications

Professional certifications such as

CISSP ,

CISM ,

CISA , or

CRISC

are highly desirable. Advanced degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, or a related field. Experience with NIST's

CSF

applied to a research computing environment is highly desirable. HIPAA ,

GLBA ,

FERPA ,

FISMA ,

CMMC ,

DFARS ,

PCI - DSS , and/or

ITAR

compliance experience. Experience with cloud security Equipment Utilized

Cloud Computing. Linux. Microsoft Windows. Physical Demands and Work Environment

Ability to work with personal computer for 8 hours a day. Ability to participate in online and in-person meetings. Special Conditions
