Division: Eskenazi Health Sub-Division: Hospital Req ID: 24254 Schedule: PRN/Per Diem Shift: Any Eskenazi Health serves as the public hospital division of the Health & Hospital Corporation of Marion County. Physicians provide a comprehensive range of primary and specialty care services at the 333-bed hospital and outpatient facilities both on and off of the Eskenazi Health downtown campus including at a network of Eskenazi Health Center sites located throughout Indianapolis. Responsibilities Proactively contributes to Eskenazis mission: Advocate, Care, Teach and Serve with special emphasis on the vulnerable population of Marion County. Models Eskenazi values. Performs standard procedures on designated sections of the body as required by physician orders. Selects proper exposure factors/protocols for each procedure and sets equipment accordingly. Positions and instructs patients; utilizes protective shielding, immobilization, and supportive devices as required. Assumes responsibility for the care and safety of patients undergoing procedures. Transfers images between files/archiving system and manages image handling in PACS. Performs primary imaging electronically on PACS and completes required paperwork and scheduling; assists Radiologists/ managers as needed. Restores images from the PACS system and operates injector equipment; starts IV and administers IV/oral contrast media. Adjusts activities to ensure age-appropriate care (adolescent, geriatric, pediatric, neonatal, adult) as described in area/unit competencies.

Job Requirements

Graduation from a Radiologic Technology Program. Minimum of one year clinical experience in radiologic technology with emphasis on a specialty modality. Bachelor of Science degree with a CT, MRI, Mammography, Nuclear Medicine, Ultrasound, or Interventional Radiology major preferred. Indiana licensure as a Radiologic Technologist, Nuclear Medicine Technologist and/or ARDMS registration. ARDMS, ARRT, CCI, NMTCB or ARMRIT registration within 6 months of hire, including compliance with professional CEU requirements. Breast Ultrasound certification for Mammography position, if applicable. Current CPR Certification.

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities

Ability to use age-appropriate communication skills. Excellent command of radiologic anatomy as well as cross-sectional anatomy. Knowledge and skills to provide care appropriate to the age of patients served. Ability to assess data/interpret information to identify age-specific needs and cognitive abilities as described in department competencies. Knowledge of radiologic equipment with emphasis on applications, contrast media, injectors, and procedures within assigned area; ability to perform breast ultrasound for mammography positions. Understanding of hospital protocols/procedures and safety procedures to minimize risk; compliance with Infection Control policies and Communicable Disease procedures. Ability to follow written and oral instructions and handle patient contacts tactfully; select appropriate protocols for all exams. Fundamental knowledge of computer applications and working knowledge of the hospitals EHR system; ensure completion of studies through the EHR system. Performs required PI tasks and provides adequate documentation; demonstrates flexibility with changing duties and priorities. Assists in other areas (reception, transportation of patients, image management) as needed; maintains vigilance for changing patient conditions. Reports questionable conditions to physicians/nursing personnel.
