Director of Accounting and Finance
will provide leadership and inspire excellence to a staff supporting a high-powered growing non-profit organization. This is a unique and challenging opportunity for a professional with a blend of technical expertise, strong business acumen, and exceptional people skills.
As Director of Accounting and Finance, you will play a key role in leading and optimizing financial operations and supporting our vital operations servicing our members worldwide.
The American Association for Respiratory Care (AARC) is the leading national and international professional association for Respiratory Care. We work with RTs to encourage, promote, and facilitate their professional excellence. We do that by advancing the science and practice of Respiratory Care and serving as an advocate for patients and their families, the public, the profession, and each unique and individual respiratory therapist.

Your responsibilities will include:
Actively manage the general ledger, including month end, and accounting functions Leading and managing the department staff and supporting them as needed with their work. Partnering with the CFO to coordinate and managing the annual budgeting process, working across departments to ensure alignment with strategic and financial goals. Supporting the CFO in leading staff training initiatives and ensuring effective cross-training and backup coverage across the team. Contribute to the development, implementation, and maintenance of accounting policies and procedures that ensure compliance, accuracy, and efficiency. Focus on accurate and timely completion of accounting tasks. Ensure proper accounting in accordance with GAAP EXPERIENCE AND EDUCATION
Bachelor's degree in either accounting or finance Minimum of 6 years of experience in a similar accounting position. CPA preferred, however, not required. KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES

Deep understanding of generally accepted accounting principles (GAAP). Advanced knowledge and proficiency in Microsoft Office applications including Excel. Experience reconciling accounts and ensuring accuracy of the general ledger. Experience recording intercompany transactions and preparing financials. Understanding of audit standards, internal controls, and compliance requirements. Knowledge of Sage Intacct and Bill.com preferred. Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with keen attention to detail. Experience handling multiple concurrent tasks and meeting timely deadlines. Ability to train, mentor, and provide effective feedback to accounting/finance team members. Detail-oriented, thorough, and organized.
