The American Association for Respiratory Care (AARC) is seeking a dynamic accounting professional to join as the Director of Accounting and Finance. Reporting to the CFO, this role provides leadership to a staff supporting a growing non-profit organization and helps optimize financial operations to support our worldwide services. The organization is a leading national and international professional association for Respiratory Care, advancing science and practice, and serving patients, families, the public, the profession, and respiratory therapists. Location and Schedule

Dallas, TX. Hybrid work arrangement: in office 2 days per week, remote 3 days per week. What will you be doing?

Actively manage the general ledger, including month-end close and related accounting functions. Lead and develop the accounting/finance department staff and provide guidance as needed. Partner with the CFO to coordinate and manage annual budgeting across departments to align with strategic and financial goals. Support the CFO in staff training initiatives and ensure cross-training and backup coverage across the team. Contribute to the development, implementation, and maintenance of accounting policies and procedures to ensure compliance, accuracy, and efficiency. Ensure accurate and timely completion of accounting tasks. Ensure proper accounting in accordance with GAAP. Experience and Education

Bachelor’s degree in accounting or finance. Minimum of 6 years of experience in a similar accounting position. CPA preferred, but not required. Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

Strong understanding of GAAP. Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel and other Office applications. Experience reconciling accounts and maintaining general ledger accuracy. Experience recording intercompany transactions and preparing financials. Understanding of audit standards, internal controls, and compliance requirements. Knowledge of Sage Intacct and Bill.com preferred. Analytical and problem-solving skills with attention to detail. Ability to manage multiple tasks and meet deadlines. Ability to train, mentor, and provide constructive feedback to accounting/finance team members. Detail-oriented, thorough, and organized. Benefits and Compensation
