Position Specific Description

We are seeking a technically strong and strategic Director of Integrated Systems Planning to lead long-term transmission and resource planning, including system development and integrated planning efforts. This role centers on advanced modeling and analysis using tools such as PSSE, PLEXOS, and Aurora to support power flow studies, capacity expansion, production cost modeling, resource adequacy, and load forecasting. In addition to deep technical and analytical responsibilities, the role is also public-facing, requiring strong communication skills to engage effectively with regulators and public service commissions. A background in engineering, economics, or a related field is preferred, along with demonstrated leadership experience guiding high-performing technical teams.

Job Overview

The Director of Integrated Systems Planning is a pivotal leadership role responsible for coordinating the development and implementation of strategies to support system reliability and integrated system growth. This position also encompasses leading project functions such as financial feasibility analysis, engineering/design, legal reviews, and financial negotiations, aimed at fostering company growth initiatives. The role involves analyzing system performance, developing long-term resource plans, and ensuring regulatory compliance.

Job Duties & Responsibilities

Develops long-term integrated resource and transmission plan

Identifies system operating conditions in consultation with system operations personnel that require planning attention and potential remediation

Directs the preparation of modeling and analysis to develop long-term integrated resource and transmission system plans to address the needs of the grid and market

Tracks requirements and execute system planning studies and other compliance activities to meet regulatory and NERC compliance obligations

Supports management in interfacing with the Florida public utility commissions and other transmission providers, regional planning groups, and stakeholder groups in the development of system expansion strategies and projects

Provides thought leadership, set technical strategies, and identify possible uses of data science methods in transmission planning

Develops machine learning, optimization, or other modeling solutions to support transmission planning

Provides strategic guidance to the development and origination team on viability of opportunities and critical thinking to help screen for most worthwhile pursuits

Assembles and leads internal cross-functional, multi-disciplinary teams through the solicitation and negotiation processes

Performs other job-related duties as assigned
