Position Summary:
The Director, Scholastic go-to market finance plays a critical role in connecting sales, finance and plants. They partner across the organization to support predictable, profitable growth for Herff Jones in the Scholastic Market. Partner with Scholastic Sales GM & Scholastic Regional Sales team to drive profitability and efficient, profitable growth Implement strong oversight of scholastic financials, including identifying and actioning potential risks before they become an issue for Herff Jones Improve Herff Jones cash position through reduction of past due customer and independent sales partner receivables What we want you to accomplish:
Direct support of Scholastic Sales GM
with key financial activities Cash & independent sales partner financials:
Oversight of scholastic financials (territory buyout deferral & overdraft payback, commissions, partner profitability), new territory buy-out financials and special agreements. Partner with sales team to a reduction of outstanding balances and ensure a strong monitoring process. Lead and facilitate audits of independent sales partners Proposals & Pricing:
Partner with sales team and plant controllers on scholastic proposals & pricing, approval of discounts and promotions/gifts with purchase Forecasting & management reporting:
Partner with Revenue Operations team to drive accurate forecasting of scholastic units and net revenue. Provide monthly variance analysis and management reporting Championship Ring program:
Provide financial oversight of the Championship Ring program including driving process improvements SG&A management:
Partner with SG&A FP&A analyst to manage Scholastic SG&A Accounts receivable:
Partner with Scholastic direct bill engagement w/ AR & Sales Directors Trends & opportunities:
Partner w/ Revenue Operations team to identify trends and opportunities with the Scholastic channel Annual Pricing:
Support corporate pricing team with inputs on annual pricing adjustments Success Indicators:
Demonstrated ability to be a self-starter with a strong desire to learn and an ability to deliver a high quality / accurate product. Ability to manage multiple priorities and prioritize based on impact Ability to partner with senior leadership (CFO & GM of Scholastic Sales) and other key business leaders on key initiatives. Highly analytical and detail orientated with proven ability to develop new ideas and deliver solutions. Demonstrated ability to work cross-functionally, manage multiple competing priorities, and drive projects to completion. Proven financial and/or analytical experience including familiarity with forecasting, budgeting, and variance analysis. Work ethic based on core values (achieving greatness, do the right thing, be accountable, show respect and be passionate). Strong data manipulation and reporting/analysis skills (including PowerBI) Education/Certification Required:
Advanced degrees or certifications a plus (MBA, CPA, etc) 10 - 15 years of relevant Finance and/or Accounting experience. Commercial finance, FP&A and/or manufacturing experience valuable for role. Advanced proficiency in MS Office (Excel, PowerPoint, Word, Outlook)
