We are looking for a Plant Manager in Point of Rocks. MD.
Typical shift is Monday - Friday 7:00 AM - 5:00 PM
Plant Operation Hours: Monday - Friday 6:00 AM - 11:30 PM with occasional Saturday hours.
Some shifts are 5:00 AM - 2:30 PM
JOB SUMMARY:
Responsible for effectively planning, directing, and coordinating all production operations. Works directly with the Director or Operations Manager to provide delegation of responsibility and assignment of duties to operational related leaders to achieve the efficient and economical operation of the plant.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
Oversee the production leadership teams to meet plant budgets and KPI's. Drive a safe work environment and zero-injury safety culture, ensure safety rules are clear and followed. Ensure quality KPI's and processes are followed to produce products that meet the specifications and quality standards per the Quality Operating System. In conjunction with HR, responsible for supporting people development, communication strategy, training, performance reviews, team engagement, absenteeism, turnover, culture adherence, and incentive plan execution. Ensure compliance to the 5S and operational excellence standards of the plant and utilize visual management were applicable. Ensure the schedule meets production standards, meets volume, and mix requirements of that schedule, ensure raw material availability and finished goods storage is adequate. Ownership of driving productive output and the utilization of data to develop output improvement plans and execute to achieve goals. Support and drive Kaizen and efficiency improvement projects, drive product development to design-for-manufacturing principles, ensure work instructions are available, accurate, and utilized. Work with the maintenance team to support the maintenance activity for the plant to ensure safe and sustained output to meet the production demand. Lead at a minimum weekly cross functional plant floor problem solving GEMBA metric meetings. With the support of HR, handles employee relations activities necessary for the effective management of the facility, including participation in interviewing and selection of employees, negotiating the collective bargaining agreement (CBA), resolving grievances, and ensuring leadership adheres to the CBA (for union locations). Prepares reports and presentations for internal and external use. Develop performance standards and production layouts for product flow. Maintain close surveillance and control over plant operations, using reports, staff meetings, observations, and coaching. Assure coordination of plant functions, responsibilities, budgetary performance, manpower utilization, skills, equipment, facilities and production control and inventory control systems. Responsible for and/or involved in creating methods and efficiencies. Contribute to management teams responsible for organized change, problem recognition/resolution resulting in cost reductions, work simplifications, method improvements and work aids. Attends and at times leads cross functional daily management meetings (DMM). Attends SIOP and determines manpower requirements based on an understanding of corporate goals and objectives. Recommend procedural improvements and projects to facilitate new product offerings. Leads Operational Excellence activities helping to create a culture of continuous improvement. Maintains a positive work environment by behaving and communicating in a professional manner with customers, co-workers, clients, and supervisors. Manages direct reports through coaching and supporting their training, development, and productivity. Perform other duties as assigned by supervisor. Regular and reliable attendance. QUALIFICATIONS:
Bachelor's degree or 6-8 years relevant experience. Business Administration, Engineering, Supply Chain, Quality, or Industrial Technology degree preferred. 5+ years of experience in operations involving plant operations management. Preferably in welding, assembly, stamping, in the structural steel design and fabrication industry. Must be extremely organized. Experience in lean manufacturing and automation preferred. Must possess the ability to lead people in a positive but assertive manner. Strong computer skills and proficient in Word, Excel, PowerPoint and ERP systems. Effective oral and written communication skills (customer oriented both externally and internally). Must be able to make independent decisions based on previously developed practices and procedures. Some travel may be required (less than 10%) PHYSICAL DEMANDS:
Frequent communication with others to exchange information. Frequent repetition of motions that may include the wrists, hands and/or fingers. Frequent moving about to accomplish tasks or moving from one worksite to another. Occasional adjusting or moving objects up to 50 pounds in all directions. Constantly remaining in a stationary position, often standing, or sitting for prolonged periods. Constant use of computer for prolonged periods. Constantly thinking and processing information. Constantly maintaining concentration and focus on tasks. WORK ENVIRONMENT:
General office environment. May require frequent exposure to production area with airborne particles, loud noises, and extreme heat and cold. Personal protection equipment is required when entering manufacturing plant. Occasional travel to other CSC facilities, customer work sites, and other related meetings/conferences.
