Director of Education & Artistic Engagement for the Peninsula Performs!
and CONNECTIONS programs. The Director of Education & Artistic Engagement will play a key role in shaping the educational and artistic engagement experiences that FAEH offers to the local community. This position will be responsible for the strategic direction, development, and management of the Peninsula Performs! program, which connects artists, youth, schools, and the broader community through impactful arts education and engagement initiatives. Peninsula Performs! takes place at public schools and knowledge of curriculum-based learning and key metrics are used to enhance curricular support through arts education. Key Responsibilities: Program Leadership & Strategic Vision Vision & Goal Setting : Develop and execute long-term goals for the Peninsula Performs! program, spanning 2025 through 2027, aligning with FAEHs strategic plan. Organic Growth : Identify and foster opportunities for program growth that align with FAEHs internal vision, ensuring community-driven engagement and expansion. Artistic Recruitment & Engagement Teaching Artist Outreach : Actively recruit a diverse range of Peninsula-based teaching artists for inclusion in the program, ensuring a variety of artistic disciplines are represented. Artist Programs : Coordinate a wide range of artist-led initiatives, including: oSingle class visits and workshops for students. oAfter-school programs in collaboration with local schools. oTouring artist visits to bring national and international artists into schools and the community.oPublic youth art exhibitions, potentially in partnership with other local nonprofits. Professional Development & Support Teaching Artist Growth : Provide annual professional development opportunities for teaching artists to enhance their craft and pedagogical skills. Field Trips : Organize enriching field trips for local students, including theater tours and short performances, with transportation coordination. Community Outreach & Engagement Visiting Artist Programs : Expand artist engagement by bringing performances, workshops, and interactive art experiences directly into the community, beyond the walls of Field Hall. Connections Series : Organize and facilitate workshops and classes tied to gallery exhibits and artistic programming, including health and wellness offerings such as yoga. Space Sharing Model Local Organization Partnerships : Develop a model for local organizations to utilize Field Arts & Events Hall spaces (including the lobby areas) in exchange for providing free community programs. Logistical Oversight : Oversee the setup and coordination of partner events, ensuring that partner organizations provide necessary volunteer labor for setup. Artistic & Audience Engagement Audience Development : Collaborate with the Artistic Director and marketing team to engage the local community and promote FAEHs artistic programming. This may involve reaching out to schools, community groups, and cultural partners. Community Events : Organize artist talks, workshops, and pre/post-performance discussions to deepen audience connection with the work presented in FAEHs artistic series. First Fed Community Conversations : Help organize forums and discussions on civic and artistic topics that engage the community. Budget and Financial Oversight Budget Management : Work with FAEHs administrative team to ensure the programs financial health, including managing overhead costs and compensating performing artists for their involvement in field trips and events. Resource Allocation : Oversee financial planning for artist-related programs and events, ensuring that all expenses are in line with program goals and funding availability. Qualifications: Proven experience in arts administration, education, or a related field, with a strong emphasis on community engagement and arts education. A passion for fostering artistic expression and supporting local artists. Strong communication skills, including the ability to build relationships with artists, schools, community organizations, and the public. Seniority level
