Job : Electronic /Hardware Design Engineer
Location : Woodridge, IL. (Onsite)
Type : Full Time Salary : DOE
Job Description:
· The Electronic Design Engineer will support the design, development, and maintenance of electronic circuit boards for electronic control modules - from concept through production. Design responsibilities include the development and analysis of: analog, digital and power circuits including 8/16/32bit µPs and µCs, displays, linear and switching power supplies, injector drivers, on/off drivers and current drivers.
Job Duties/Responsibilities:
Creation of documentation including technical requirements, functional specifications, qualification test plans and product change notices.
Create and troubleshoot electrical designs for electronic control modules.
Generate schematics and support PCB layout designers.
Support current production designs including quality improvements, cost reduction, component obsolescence and failure analysis.
Evaluate and approve electronic components that meet requirements for availability, performance and cost.
Evaluate failures to determine root cause and corrective actions. (for drivers, induction, digital, display, ECM, sensors etc)
Participate with product teams on design development activities (Electrical design reviews)
Interface and support validation and manufacturing engineers/technicians with validation and manufacturing testing.
Apply knowledge of DOE, FMEA, tolerance analysis, simulation, statistical methods and DFM to improve robustness and quality of electronic design
Qualifications:
5-8 years of true design experience, must have Schematic design experience in either Displays, Engine Micro-Controllers, sensors, etc.
Embedded software development with C and Assembly
Highly technical in at least one of the electrical engineering field – drivers, induction, digital, display, ECM, sensors etc
Designed hardware before – analog or digital, preferably within Automotive/Aeronautics/Industrial/Medical type applications within ECM, Display, Telematics or Sensors space. Server/Telecommunication side only experience is less desirable.
Debugged complex design related issues
Debugged electronics with embedded software
Software development experience, or excellent knowledge of embedded software
Have thorough understanding and some level of experience of Root Cause Analysis process
Have led projects, and can manage project plans.
Have good understanding of the environmental testing – e.g. EMC.
Desirable to have manufacturing process understanding, but not required.
Multiyear Electrical/Electronic component design and development experience
Must have design experience in analog, digital, automotive I/O's (injector, on/off and Current drivers) and/or power supply designs.
Familiarity with OS (WinCE, Linux, etc.)
Strong functional knowledge of electronic components and circuits including microprocessors, microcontrollers, op-amps, regulators, standard digital logic ICs, and discrete semiconductors (diodes, transistors, FETS, triacs) is required.
Familiarity with basic electronic test equipment such as DVMs, Oscilloscopes and Power Supplies is required.
Multiyear years of experience in Printed Circuit Board (PCB) design in Mentor or other tool with experience in multi-layer boards is .
Knowledge of developing C code for embedded devices.
Good documentation and presentation skills using MS Office Word, Excel and PowerPoint is required. Ability to communicate technical information effectively.
Knowledge of FMEA’s, electrical stress analysis calculations, EMI and EMC PCB layout techniques is .
Familiar with root cause / troubleshooting techniques for electronic assemblies.
Familiarity with display and instrument cluster systems highly desirable.
