Job overview and responsibilities
Coordinate FMC navigation database management with the Technical Pilots to ensure all databases contain the necessary content and coverage to support scheduled and non-scheduled operations
This includes submitting cyclical requests to multiple manufacturers and to verify the compliance and accuracy of all requests
Cyclical compare functions will also be performed to verify the integrity of various procedure types and operational functions that leverage our FMC databases
Assistance with procedure construction (e.g., engine out SIDs, RNAV visuals) using the TARGETS software program may also be required
Close coordination with all divisions of Flight Operations, Dispatch, Tech Ops, and Regulatory is required to ensure compliance of all navigation database construction and content
Attending Company meetings and Industry meetings is also required to ensure safe operations and to represent United Airlines
Manage Sr. Staff Representative for aeronautical charting and ensure navigation databases and charts stay synced
Managing FMC navigation database coverage, content, and procedures
This includes submitting requests for each AIRAC (28 day) cycle to maintain appropriate database coverage; completing reviews and QC checks of databases; performing database compare audits; responding to FSAP and other reports; issuing Ops Alerts, Pilots Bulletins and NOTAMS as needed; and tailoring procedures as necessary to ensure database integrity
Ongoing coordination with Flight Operations, Flight Standards, Network Planning, Dispatch, FODMs, Charter department, Safety, and Tech Ops is necessary Individual will also provide operational support outside of normal working hours (as needed) when questions/issues arise that require immediate attention
Managing Sr. Staff Representative for aeronautical charting and ensuring proper content for aeronautical charts, timely publication and distribution of chart coverages
Managing tailored navigation data leveraged by EFBs, Flight Planning tools, and other applications
Attending FOQA, SAT, Standards, Policies & Procedures, Regulatory and other department and industry meetings to ensure proper compliance and content is maintained for the FMC navigation databases
This also requires additional coordination and communication with all fleet managers, the charting department, the Technical Pilots, other departments, and other industry manufacturers and specialists
Represent United Airlines/Flight Operations at industry symposia and on working with FMS databases standards
Qualifications
What's needed to succeed (Minimum Qualifications):
Bachelor Degree in Aviation Science, Aeronautics, Aerospace, or Airport Management
3+ years of experience with aircraft avionics databases
Knowledge of ARINC 424 Nav DB Standards
Knowledge of Aeronautical Charting
Experience with managing relational databases
Must be legally authorized to work in the United States for any employer without sponsorship
Successful completion of interview required to meet job qualification
Reliable, punctual attendance is an essential function of the position
What will help you propel from the pack (Preferred Qualifications):
Pilot certificate
TERPS and/or PANS-OPS certification
2+ years of experience with navigational databases
Experience with SQL
Experience with programming languages (Python, JavaScript, etc.)
The base pay range for this role is $99,750.00 to $129,924.00.
The base salary range/hourly rate listed is dependent on job-related, factors such as experience, education, and skills. This position is also eligible for bonus and/or long-term incentive compensation awards.
