Overview
This position is responsible for all aspects of philanthropy operations, including gift receipting and acknowledgment, donation coding and reconciliation, stock gift processing, Salesforce management and optimization, reporting and data analysis, and oversight of transactional individual giving through direct response channels. The Director manages the Philanthropy Operations team, which includes the Donor Relations Manager, Development Data Manager, Database Specialist, and Front Desk Receptionist. They also lead the development and implementation of a comprehensive operations plan that advances the success of the Development team and supports the Food Banks mission-driven fundraising efforts. Prepare and execute a comprehensive philanthropy operations plan. Ensure donations are reconciled with the accounting team monthly. Complete monthly revenue trackers for internal analysis and reporting. Track and record all stock gifts to ensure accurate entry, acknowledgment, and reconciliation. Prepare and execute a comprehensive direct response fundraising plan including direct mail and major donor mailings. Lead the preparation of written materials, including correspondence, solicitation materials, acknowledgements, and regular communications for entry-level donors and mid-tier donors. Ensure proper donor database management and integrity in Salesforce. Create and implement SOPs for Salesforce CRM and train development staff to properly use the system. Oversee the Donor Relations Manager and Data Manager in developing strategies to grow recurring giving, employee giving, and other special target groups. Manage the Database team member(s) to achieve goals, maintain timelines, ensure data integrity, and deliver donor-centered customer service. Manage the Front Desk Receptionist towards established goals and expectations. Direct, motivate, and support staff to achieve organizational goals through performance monitoring, task delegation, and fostering a positive work environment. Includes communicating expectations, providing guidance and feedback, resolving issues, and contributing to professional development. Staff donor and special events as needed. Provide face-to-face presentations and/or tours for individuals and groups as needed. Comply with and abide by the AFP Code of Ethics, as well as all SAFB personnel policies, and accept additional duties as assigned by the Chief Development Officer or the Director of Philanthropy. Establish and maintain a working environment conducive to positive morale, quality, creativity, and teamwork while respecting individual style. Qualifications
Bachelors degree or masters degree in non-profit management, business, or public administration (other relevant fields considered) OR equivalent related work experience. Experience managing non-profit budgets, financial reporting, and use of accounting principles preferred. Demonstrated experience in fund development, philanthropy operations, or nonprofit management. Knowledge of fundraising operations including gift processing, reconciliation, donor database management, stock gifts, and planned giving preferred. Proficiency in computer applications, including word processing, spreadsheets, and database/CRM systems (Salesforce experience strongly preferred). Strong written and verbal communication skills with the ability to prepare accurate reports and donor correspondence. Excellent organizational skills with strong attention to detail, accuracy, and the ability to meet deadlines. Sound judgment, discretion, and ability to handle sensitive donor information with confidentiality. Ability to work independently with minimal supervision while also thriving in a collaborative team environment. Proven ability to supervise, support, and develop staff, including effective delegation and coaching. Professional demeanor and the ability to represent the Food Bank effectively with staff, volunteers, donors, and community partners. Will require working occasional evenings, weekends, and holidays to assist with events and campaigns. Must have reliable transportation. Possession of a current drivers license, liability insurance, and a clean driving record. About the organization
