Special Events Coordinator

The City of Auburn Parks, Arts, & Recreation Department is seeking a talented Special Events Coordinator. This position performs professional work involving developing, implementing, and coordinating various special events. Note: This position will be supervising the Farmers Market, thus this position will be required to work on Sundays, June to mid-September. Our ideal candidate: Is extremely organized Pays attention to detail Has strong communication skills Has the ability to juggle multiple tasks/projects and prioritize tasks Has strong computer programming skills In this role, you will: Schedules, organizes, facilitates, coordinates, and evaluates participants, vendors, contractors, volunteers, and other related participation in a variety of special events including, but not limited to, initial contact, follow-up, and event day requirements and support; recruits new sponsors and vendors, as necessary. Works closely with the other Parks staff in the planning and oversight of special programs, program development, administrative support, day-of-event duties, and supervision of volunteers, facilities, and/or programs. Coordinates, organizes, and tracks different event budgets, vendor payments, contractors, supplies, volunteers, and non-benefitted staff related to events. Provides administrative and technical support to the Events, Projects, and Marketing Manager for marketing publications, grant applications, and other special programs, as assigned. Works courteously and effectively with public officials, citizens, contractors, vendors, developers, supervisors, and other employees, both in person and over the telephone, assisting them with a wide variety of information pertaining to City and department. We are looking for candidates who have: Bachelor's Degree in recreation, Public Relations or closely related field AND Two years of successful professional work experience in a related OR a combination of education, experience, and training that indicates the ability to successfully complete the essential elements of the job listed above.
