TheCollege of Veterinary Medicine (https://www.vetmed.auburn.edu/) seeks candidates for a

Vet Assistant - Inpatient,

working directly with the ER clinicians and rotating intern doctors to help facilitate quality client care and patient flow through theIMC ,ICU , and ER.

This will be a monthly rotating day shift.

Mon - Thurs 7am - 5pm and Fri - Sun 7am - 8pm.

Essential Functions

Assists with administering treatments and monitoring patients admitted inIMC orICU , Observes and records vital data, abnormal signs, body weight, food/water intake of animals, and collects and labels specimens and perform treatments and administer medications as prescribed by primary veterinarian.

Performs and demonstrates veterinary care techniques and procedures related to emergency and critical care medicine.

Assists veterinarians in the care of patients requiring advanced procedures and life-saving techniques includingCPR , mechanical ventilation and dialysis.

Inspects facilities, equipment, and supplies daily, as well as observes health status of animals, environmental conditions, temperature, and sanitation.

Perform job duties with speed and accuracy and work as essential personnel, providing care for patients after hours, on weekends and holidays.

Assists with emergency triage and stabilization of patients presenting through the Emergencyservice.

May be responsible for, or assist in, billing clients, inputting charges, and/or similar tasks.

Minimum Qualifications

Minimum Qualifications

Depending upon a combination of education and experience, the finalist selected for this position will be hired as a Veterinary Assistant - Inpatient and assigned levels II orIII .

Level II:

Requires a high school diploma or equivalent plus 2 years of experience working in a veterinary hospital environment.

LevelIII :

Requires a high school diploma or equivalent plus 4 years of experience working in a veterinary hospital environment.

Degrees accepted in lieu of experience.

Minimum Skills, License, and Certifications

Minimum Skills and Abilities

Knowledge of processes, methods, and procedures associated with veterinary medicine.
