Job Description
Texas A&M University—Texarkana is an ascending member of the Texas A&M University System and is currently the fastest-growing university within the System. The Dean of the College of Arts, Sciences, and Education is the chief academic administrator of the College and its four Divisions: Humanities, Education, Science and Mathematics, and Social and Behavioral Sciences. Current degree programs within the College include: undergraduate programs in Biology, Chemistry, Criminal Justice, Elementary Education, English, History, Mass Communication, Mathematics, Political Science, Psychology, and Sociology; Master’s programs in Communication, Counseling, Education, English, History, Psychology, and Public Administration; and a Doctoral Program in Education Leadership. As a direct report to the Provost and Senior Vice President for Academic Affairs, the Dean will be expected to support the University’s commitment to academic excellence, student success, and community leadership and to instill a culture of research productivity within the College.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:
Provide strategic and visionary leadership for the College, including the development of new programs at the undergraduate and graduate levels.
Serve as the chief academic administrator of the College.
Increase the research profile of the College.
Work collaboratively with Admissions, Enrollment Services, and other units for the College's recruitment and retention efforts.
Work collaboratively with University Advancement and Marketing for the College's marketing and branding efforts.
Identify and pursue opportunities for college advancement through philanthropy and grantsmanship.
Manage budget, personnel, space, and other resources with efficiency and accountability.
Work collaboratively and coordinate with the Office of Institutional Effectiveness, Research, and Planning (IERP) to maintain accreditation of programs (e.g., CACREP).
Oversee class schedule development for each semester and/or term.
Foster an organizational culture that supports collegiality and professional development of students, faculty, and staff.
Promote excellence in scholarship, teaching, university service, and community outreach with relevant programs, goals, and activities.
Ensure coordination of the College with university programs, initiatives, and strategic goals.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & ABILITIES:
Minimum Qualifications
Earned doctorate in a discipline housed within the College and academic credentials commensurate with appointment at the rank of Associate or Full Professor with tenure at Texas A&M University—Texarkana.
A record of successful administrative experience and leadership in a university setting.
Demonstrated evidence of administrative knowledge and skills/abilities including, but not limited to, budgeting and personnel management/supervision.
Record of excellence in teaching, scholarship, and service.
Minimum of ten years teaching experience in higher education.
Evidence of commitment to student-centered education.
Experience with academic and professional accreditation processes.
Demonstrated excellence in research resulting in publication.
Commitment to research, performance, and experiential learning.
Experience with student recruitment.
Experience with undergraduate and graduate-level curriculum development, program development, implementation, and evaluation.
Demonstrated ability to work collaboratively with other colleagues and areas throughout the university
Exceptional interpersonal and communication skills.
Preferred Qualifications
Experience with fundraising and securing grants to support educational initiatives and student scholarships.
Demonstrated experience in new program development and implementation.
Understanding of educational technology trends in higher education.
Successful experience in grant writing and management.
Experience with strategic planning.
Demonstrated ability to navigate rapid growth and change.
Other Requirements
Ability to travel and work beyond regular office hours.
Ability to maintain confidentiality.
