The position ensures legal and policy compliance with the departments obligation to provide timely and effective responses to internal and external complaints of workplace discrimination, reprisal and discriminatory harassment. Responsibilities include conducting complex investigations, handling matters including overlap with FMLA, Workers Compensation law, contractual bargaining rights, and undue hardships; writing and reviewing workforce policies; ensuring adherence to current case law, regulatory guidance and statutory requirements under state and federal laws; and serving as MnDOTs primary contact for discrimination-related matters, coordinating with the Minnesota Attorney Generals Office and Minnesota Management and Budget. Key duties include: Conducting complex investigations and drafting investigative reports Determining investigative strategies and managing contractors for expert discrimination investigations Making findings and recommendations for follow-up Providing legal counsel to managers and Human Resources Managing the statewide internal complaint process and informal resolution methods Note: MnDOT does not sponsor work visas. Applicants must be legally authorized to work in the US at the start of employment. Minimum Qualifications
Three years of advanced professional experience applying state and federal non-discrimination law in the public sector that demonstrates: Performing complex legal and case analysis Conducting all aspects of complaint investigations, including drafting investigative reports and findings Responding to discrimination complaints Note: A Juris Doctor degree from an ABA-accredited law school substitutes for one year of advanced professional experience. Preferred Qualifications
A Juris Doctor degree An active license to practice law in Minnesota Additional Requirements
