Position Overview

As a Configuration Manager, you will lead the governance of product data and configuration control across software and hardware systems for autonomous

surface vessels. You’ll ensure compliance with government standards—including EIA-649 and MIL-HDBK-61—and maintain audit-ready records that support contract integrity and regulatory alignment. Your work will be instrumental in sustaining traceability, accountability, and system integrity across both

mechanical/electrical and software domains.

Core Responsibilities

Interpret and apply configuration management standards (EIA-649, MIL-HDBK-61, and related handbooks) to ensure consistent control across all product domains.

Maintain authoritative product baselines and configuration records that meet audit and contract compliance requirements.

Implement and oversee data control practices for Engineering Change Requests (ECRs), ensuring traceability and completeness across software and hardware systems.

Conduct internal audits of configuration data and change records to ensure readiness for external reviews (FCA/PCA, DCMA, DoD, etc.).

Manage system-level configuration across mechanical, electrical, and software components, ensuring alignment between PLM, CAD, and source code repositories.

Support contract deliverables by ensuring configuration documentation meets government and customer standards for traceability, version control, and change history.

Provide strategic guidance on configuration control for software systems, including versioning, release documentation, and integration with hardware baselines.

Train engineering and program teams on configuration control policies, audit expectations, and contract compliance workflows.

Collaborate with Compliance, Engineering, and Program Management to resolve discrepancies and ensure configuration data supports contractual and regulatory obligations.

Qualifications

5+ years of experience in configuration management with a focus on government standards and audit readiness.

Deep familiarity with EIA-649, MIL-HDBK-61, and related configuration control handbooks.

Experience managing configuration across both software and mechanical/electrical systems.

Strong understanding of contract compliance, audit protocols, and data governance.

Proficiency in PLM systems (Arena, Teamcenter) and CAD tools (Solidworks, NX); familiarity with software version control systems (e.g., Git) is a plus.

Exceptional attention to detail and documentation rigor.
