Civil Department Manager, PE

We are seeking a talented Civil Engineer PE to join our team as a department manager within a full-service A/E Firm - encompassing Architectural, Structural, MEP, and Civil divisions. As part of the Civil Team, the successful candidate must bring basic concepts and ideas to fruition with minimal supervision, and excel in a collaborative, team-based environment. Responsibilities include site observation, field documentation, and analysis of existing sites. Project Leadership Manage multi-discipline site/civil projects from planning through construction. Review contracts, define scope, and ensure milestones and deliverables are met. Resolve issues and oversee final project turnover to clients. Design & Technical Execution Design site utilities (sanitary, potable water, stormwater), grading, and access roads. Perform stormwater and sanitary sewer calculations, including lift station design. Develop full plans and specifications using SpecLink format. Permitting & Compliance Prepare and oversee permit applications for land development, erosion control, and stormwater management. Coordinate with jurisdictions on regulations for utilities and site services. Team & Budget Oversight Supervise proposals, budgets, schedules, and technical documentation. Monitor project forecasts, costs, and quality control. Provide mentorship and technical guidance to junior staff. Client & Stakeholder Engagement Ensure client satisfaction and acceptance of work. Prepare progress reports and coordinate final project documentation. Represent the company professionally in civic and industry organizations. Safety & Values Uphold safety standards and ensure work aligns with company values. Prioritize multiple projects and meet deadlines effectively. Essential Skills Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering or related engineering field. 7 or more years' experience in site/civil design. Active PE License in the state of Indiana. Construction document preparation and hydraulic modeling experience. Proficiency with software such as HydroCAD and WinSLAMM. Strong technical writing skills. Ability to visit and safely traverse construction and project sites, complying with all safety codes. Previous leadership experience in stormwater, drainage, grading, and project management. Additional Skills & Qualifications Previous leadership experience is highly valued. Work Environment The position is based in our office in Fort Wayne, IN, with the option to work from our Oshkosh, WI office. Pay and Benefits The pay range for this position is $100000.00 - $125000.00/yr.
