with 2+ years of hands-on experience to join our innovative team. As a critical member of our talented group of software developers and engineers, you will contribute to developing and deploying software for the US Air Force. This position offers remote work options, but candidates who can occasionally work onsite at locations including Newport News, VA; Lexington, MA; Orlando, FL; Charlottesville, VA; Omaha, NE; or Morgantown, WV will be favored. Primary Responsibilities: Design, develop, troubleshoot, and debug essential software source code utilizing modern programming languages and tools, particularly Java. Engage in the complete software development lifecycle, working within broadly defined parameters. Utilize Agile development tools such as Jira, Confluence, and Bitbucket/Git to effectively manage work and collaborate with your team. Assist in the creation and updating of all necessary documentation and specifications for design, development, and testing phases. Identify potential challenges and craft effective workarounds. Plan and estimate development tasks to enhance performance metrics. Write maintainable code that aligns with specifications. Develop automated tests as part of a continuous integration framework. Take ownership of delivering specific components of a system or application. Collaborate closely with fellow engineers to devise the best technical designs for new product development. Create software solutions with a customer-first mentality, even when parameters are not clearly defined. Basic Qualifications: Bachelor's degree with 2+ years of experience or a master's degree with 1+ year of experience; additional experience can substitute for formal education. Must be a US Citizen and capable of obtaining and maintaining a DoD Secret clearance. Hands-on proficiency with Java/C++ and object-oriented programming (testing will be conducted). Experience with JavaScript and JS frameworks such as React. Ability to apply software development process fundamentals effectively. A strong desire to learn new programming languages, tools, and techniques independently. Demonstrated ability to complete tasks with minimal supervision. Effective collaboration skills within a multi-disciplinary engineering team. Preferred Qualifications: US Citizen with an active Secret clearance. Familiarity with web technologies, including HTML, CSS, XML, REST, JSON, SOAP, and WSDL. Knowledge of web application technologies such as Apache Tomcat, JBoss, etc. Experience with version control systems (e.g., Git). Understanding of Agile development methodologies. Familiarity with various operating systems (Mac OSX, Windows, LINUX, etc.). Experience with at least one Relational Database Management System (Oracle, MySQL, PostgreSQL, SQL Server, etc.). Proficient in MS Office Products (Word, Excel, Visio, & PowerPoint). Knowledge of NoSQL databases (e.g., MongoDB). Familiarity with server-side JavaScript.
