Lead Software Development Engineers

to collaborate with a skilled group of developers and engineers. Your contributions will support the US Air Force's mission through cutting-edge software solutions. In this role, you will engage in all phases of the software development lifecycle, including scope estimation, architecture and design, coding, and testing in an Agile environment. You'll be part of a dynamic team dedicated to delivering superior solutions while enjoying a collaborative and supportive workplace. Your key responsibilities will include architecting, designing, building, and enhancing reliable systems used by Air Force clients worldwide. You will oversee critical project deliverables through the entire software development lifecycle, ensuring alignment with client objectives, deadlines, and resource constraints. Remote work is an option, but candidates who can occasionally work on-site are preferred. Ideal work locations include Newport News, VA; Lexington, MA; Orlando, FL; Charlottesville, VA; Omaha, NE; or Morgantown, WV. Primary Responsibilities: Participate in all phases of the software development process, operating within defined frameworks. Lead and ensure the delivery of complete systems or applications, acting as the technical expert on medium to large complex projects. Breakdown large assignments into manageable tasks for the development team. Collaborate closely with engineers to create optimal technical solutions for new product developments. Guarantee adherence to Agile methodologies and DevSecOps best practices. Design software solutions even when requirements are unclear, always prioritizing customer needs. Mentor fellow engineers in constructing complex, scalable systems. Resolve obstacles for the development team through collaboration with Product Owners and technical leadership. Plan and estimate development tasks while striving to enhance project performance metrics. Basic Qualifications: Bachelor's degree and 4+ years of relevant experience, or a Master's degree and 2+ years of experience. Considerable experience may substitute for formal education. US Citizenship with the ability to obtain and maintain a DoD Secret clearance. Proficient in Java/C++ and object-oriented programming. Strong knowledge of web technologies such as HTML, CSS, XML, SOAP, WSDL, REST, JSON, and JavaScript. Experience with web application technologies like Apache Tomcat, JBoss, etc. Demonstrated ability to deliver complete applications or systems. Experience in a technical leadership role. In-depth knowledge of software design patterns. Familiarity with Agile Development practices and continuous integration/delivery tools. Experience with version control systems (e.g., Git). Experience using issue tracking systems (e.g., Jira). Proficiency on multiple operating systems (Mac OSX, Windows, LINUX, etc.). Knowledge of at least one Relational Database Management System (e.g., Oracle, MySQL, PostgreSQL, SQL Server). Proficient with MS Office Suite (Word, Excel, Visio, PowerPoint). A strong and self-motivated desire to learn new languages, tools, frameworks, and methodologies. Preferred Qualifications: Familiarity with Agile tools such as Jira, Bitbucket, Confluence. Knowledge of integration and delivery tools such as Jenkins, SonarQube, JUnit, Cucumber, Selenium, JMeter. Experience with modern software solutions, including microservices, containers, and serverless architectures. Pay Range:

$85,150.00 - $153,925.00 This pay range is a general guideline and not a guarantee of compensation. Factors influencing offer decisions include job responsibilities, education, experience, skills, internal equity, market alignment, and applicable laws.
