Our one-year Medical/Surgical to Critical Care Transition Pathway is designed to give you the training, mentorship, and progressive experiences you need to build confidence and develop the skill set for a future in critical care.

December 2025 Graduates: Accepting Applications until October 13th May 2026 Graduates: Application process will be from December 15th to January 5th

What You’ll Experience

Months 1–10: Medical-Surgical CoreStrengthen your bedside nursing foundation while attending Nurse Residency Program with embedded Critical Care Fundamentals.

Month 11: Step-Down OrientationOrient to Step-down intermediate unit with targeted support and begin our Critical Care Bootcamp.

Month 12: Critical Care TransitionOrient to Critical care. Work one-on-one with an ICU preceptor, complete specialty-focused fellowship modules, and begin interview process for potential placement.

Required Licensure/Certification Skills:• Registered Nurse license in New York State.• Basic Life Support (BLS) certification

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

Six months or more of prior paid clinical experience in a nursing support role.

AS: Nursing (Required)

BLS - Basic Life Support - American Heart Association (AHA)American Heart Association (AHA), RN - Registered Nurse - New York State Education Department (NYSED)New York State Education Department (NYSED)

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:

M - Medium Work - Exerting 20 to 50 pounds of force occasionally, and/or 10 to 25 pounds of force frequently, and/or greater than negligible up to 10 pounds of force constantly to move objects; Requires frequent walking, standing or squatting.
