We are seeking a highly skilled Buyer to optimize the use of company assets through effective planning and acquisition of materials for assigned products. The role involves ensuring quality, on-time delivery, and continuity of supply while minimizing costs. Responsibilities
Plan all material requirements to meet the Master Production Schedule and Customer Order requirements. Analyze product sales forecasts, engineering plans, and life cycle of the product. Develop, implement, and manage cost reduction and continuous improvement programs with key suppliers. Determine material requirements and develop order quantities and material schedules. Manage inventory levels for assigned products. Source new suppliers and develop existing suppliers. Develop RFQs, analyze costs and terms. Receive and process non-inventory requisitions, analyze quantity, specifications, and delivery requirements. Develop annual cost savings, quality, and process improvement objectives for assigned product components. Evaluate current and prospective suppliers through supplier audits and various objective performance measurements. Serve as primary liaison between the company and vendors. Generate effective communications and maintain positive professional relations with suppliers and co-workers. Maintain high ethical standards in dealings with suppliers. Serve as a commodity information resource for material requirements, market conditions, and trends. Ensure system accuracy of material planning and purchasing data for assigned products. Keep vendor product files and supplier corrective action logs up to date. Address discrepant material and process reworks promptly. Investigate and correct discrepancies between Receiving, Accounting, Inventory, and Purchasing. Represent the Purchasing department on Research and Development projects. Essential Skills
3 to 5 years of purchasing experience. Most have experience in a manufacturing environment. Ability to develop RFQs and analyze sales data. Ability to read, write, speak, and understand English well. 5 years of prior Planning and Purchasing experience. 3 years of computer/MRP experience. Pay and Benefits The pay range for this position is $35.00 - $40.00/hr. Eligibility requirements apply to some benefits and may depend on your job classification and length of employment.
