Maintenance Technician
Salary: $19.90 - $24.88 Performs routine and emergency maintenance work including, but not limited to electrical, HVAC mechanical systems. Responsible for various duties and systems associated with keeping a City Facility in operational condition. Essential Job Functions:
1. Ability to perform emergency and routine repair of HVAC equipment. 2. Ability to perform preventive maintenance to HVAC equipment. 3. Ability to communicate with employees in other departments regarding system malfunctions. 4. Ability to prepare material requirement lists and order parts through supervisor or direct from vendors. Other Job Functions:
Minimum Qualifications:
Knowledge of uniform mechanical codes. Knowledge of the principles of refrigeration, chill and heating water systems, boilers and their operations, ventilation and air handling, general air flow, and basic electricity. Knowledge of HVAC control systems. Skill in reading and diagnosing problems from schematics. Skill in preventative maintenance and repair of HVAC equipment. Skill in communicating with other city employees and vendors by oral and written means. Ability to troubleshoot control systems. Ability to receive detailed information through oral communication, and to make fine discriminations in sound. Ability to perform a variety of physical skills including, but not limited to, carrying, kneeling, pulling, and standing. Ability to lift or exert forces equivalent to lifting up to 125 pounds. Ability to operate a motorized vehicle. Ability to operate a variety of equipment including but not limited to vacuum pump, torch and test equipment. Ability to work in both indoor and outdoor environments. Ability to work at elevated heights, including on ladders and lift equipment. Incumbent is subject to fume/odor, dust/mites, chemical, mechanical and electrical hazards. Qualifying Education and Experience:
A high school education and three years of experience in the HVAC service field. Must possess EPA certification. Valid Texas Driver License, Class C.
