Overview

We are seeking an experienced Business Development Manager to join our 200-member Business & Finance Department, which spans 11 U.S. offices including New York, California, Boston, Providence, Chicago, and Washington, D.C. This role will serve as the primary business development and marketing strategist for core financial services teams, including Private Equity, Leveraged Finance, and Corporate Trust. The Manager will be responsible for developing, leading, and implementing strategic marketing and business development initiatives that support these practices and drive growth. Location:

Boston, MA; New York City, NY Responsibilities

Supervise and mentor Business Development Specialist(s) assigned to support practice groups and teams. Develop strategic plans to drive the business development and marketing goals with practice group leaders and the marketing team. Incorporate knowledge of relevant industries into firmwide business strategies, anticipating client needs and trends and developing responsive solutions to support practice groups and attorneys. Develop strong relationships with practice group and team leaders to gain consensus on strategies. Ensure marketing plans integrate with and support firmwide strategies. Identify speaking and sponsorship opportunities and target membership opportunities to create visibility and advance new business goals. Work with lateral hiring managers to ensure effective integration of new lateral partners and communicate their expertise to clients, attorneys, and business communities. Provide direction for responses to legal directories and promotional opportunities to increase awareness of select practice groups. Provide thought leadership through direct mail, email, client alerts and social media. Develop marketing materials to present a consistent image that aligns with practice group strategies and reflects changes. Produce client development seminars, firm-sponsored events, conferences, and trade shows from concept through implementation, including attendee identification, material development, production, facility liaison and lead follow-up. Collaborate with Strategic Pursuits and Competitive Intelligence to conduct market research on industries, associations, clients, and prospects. Prepare tailored promotional letters, pitches, presentations, and proposals. Guide preparation of responses to RFPs, RFIs, and RFQs. Develop and maintain collateral materials, including case lists, practice area descriptions, and website content. Plan and participate in practice group, team, and industry initiative meetings. Develop and mentor budgets. Work with Communication and Design teams on strategies for written communications, press releases and media content. Collaborate with team members to develop content for the website, firm collateral, and internal communications. Perform other duties as assigned. Qualifications

5-8 years of marketing or business development experience with at least 3 years in a management role, preferably within a law firm or professional services environment. Bachelor’s Degree required. Work experience in lieu of a degree will be considered. Excellent attention to detail, organization, interpersonal and communication skills, both verbal and written. Ability to safeguard confidential information. Stay informed of industry trends to develop targeted and strategically focused programs and recommendations. Creative with the ability to bring new ideas to the team. Results-oriented team player with the ability to develop deep knowledge of sources of business and resources. Proven ability to strategize, plan, and execute events and webinars. Strong leadership and client service skills. Ability to manage heavy workload, prioritize responsibilities, and meet deadlines. Salary & Benefits

Anticipated annual salary range (location-dependent): Boston, MA: $118,000 to $174,900; New York, NY: $129,500 to $192,500. In addition to a standard benefits package, this role may be eligible for contingent compensation based on factors including performance, location, experience, and qualifications. Equal Opportunity
