Overview

Clinical Pharmacy Specialist - Pharmacotherapy role at MUSC Health. The clinical pharmacy specialist will work within outpatient clinics to help optimize patient outcomes and participate in interprofessional collaboration. This position reports to an Ambulatory Pharmacy Manager and collaborates closely with the clinic’s healthcare professionals. The ideal candidate will be motivated, possess a wide clinical knowledge base, demonstrate strong communication and time management skills, and be able to work in a team environment to provide safe and efficient patient care.

Responsibilities

Provide distributive and clinical pharmacy services to the inpatients and outpatients of the Medical University Hospitals and clinics. Work within outpatient clinics to optimize patient outcomes and participate in interprofessional collaboration. Collaborate with clinic healthcare professionals and Ambulatory Pharmacy Manager to support safe and effective medication use. Contribute to medication therapy management and patient education as part of a multidisciplinary team.

Qualifications

Doctor of Pharmacy or equivalent from an ACPE-accredited School of Pharmacy. Preferred: completion of a clinical pharmacy residency; two years of clinical or hospital pharmacy experience may substitute for the residency. Licensure: Licensed as a Registered Pharmacist by the South Carolina Board of Pharmacy. Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification from American Heart Association or American Red Cross BLS for Healthcare Providers.

Required/Additional Details

Minimum Training and Education: Doctor of Pharmacy or Bachelor’s degree in Pharmacy. Completion of a pharmacy residency preferred.
