Overview
Job Title: Residency Trained Clinical Optometrist Location: Annapolis, MD | Facility: Anne Arundel Eye Center Pay Rate: $50-62/HR or 110-125K About The Role: Client is seeking a Residency Trained Clinical Optometrist to join our Ophthalmology division in Annapolis, MD. The ideal candidate is a dedicated, self-motivated professional with a strong background in diagnosing and treating ocular conditions. You will provide comprehensive patient care, support treatment planning, and contribute to the growth of our practice.
Key Responsibilities
Perform complete dilated fundus examinations.
Diagnose and coordinate treatment for ocular diseases including cataracts, glaucoma, dry eye syndrome, blepharitis, diabetic retinopathy.
Prescribe and manage pharmaceutical treatments for ocular conditions.
Interpret diagnostic imaging results (disc photos, retina photos, visual field tests).
Apply medical coding proficiency (CPT/ICD-10) for accurate documentation and billing.
Collaborate with ophthalmologists, technicians, and administrative staff for excellent patient outcomes.
Provide patient education to promote treatment adherence and eye health awareness.
Maintain accurate EMR records and ensure compliance with healthcare regulations.
Qualifications
Doctor of Optometry (OD) degree from an accredited program.
Residency training in Clinical Optometry or Ophthalmology (required).
Prior experience in a medical/ophthalmology practice strongly preferred.
Proficiency in medical coding (CPT/ICD-10).
Strong diagnostic skills with ability to interpret ophthalmic imaging.
Proficiency in EMR systems and basic computer skills.
Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
Strong patient care and customer service orientation.
Ability to work effectively within a multidisciplinary team.
Preferred Qualifications
Board certification or eligibility in Optometry.
Experience managing complex ocular disease cases.
Familiarity with surgical co-management and referral coordination.
