About The Team The Service Monetization team builds, maintains, and secures systems that manage subscriptions for millions of Crunchyroll fans. We focus on quality code, service reliability, and teamwork. Our work includes building features for subscription management, customer incentives, integration with payment providers, fraud detection, and maintaining compliance. Our services enable millions of subscriptions and process millions of payments in a secure, distributed, and scalable environment.
About The Role In the Software Engineering Manager, Account Services position you will:
Lead the Account Services Team responsible for building and maintaining account services at massive, multi-million user scale.
Oversee the development and operation of secure sign-up, login, and profile management services—the “front door” to our ecosystem.
Ensure seamless user experiences across multiple platforms, including web, mobile, living room devices, and game consoles.
Drive technical excellence, scalability, and security in all account-related services to support our fans worldwide.
You will report to the VP of Service Monetization. This is a hybrid position based 3 days a week in our Los Angeles or San Francisco offices.
About You We get excited about candidates who:
Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field.
10+ years of engineering experience in building cloud-native applications, with a strong focus on backend development and microservices architecture.
3+ years of experience in managing engineering teams.
Proficiency in programming languages such as TypeScript, Go, Java, Python, and experience with modern frameworks and technologies.
Strong understanding of cloud platforms (e.g., AWS, Azure, Google Cloud) and experience in building scalable, reliable, and secure cloud-native applications.
Experience weighing technical tradeoffs to maximize impact and defining a roadmap aligned with long-term product goals.
Excellent verbal and written communication with the ability to collaborate with cross-functional teams and partners.
A Day in the Life
Lead and mentor a team of engineers to adopt best practices, architectural standards, and scalability in a collaborative, high-performance environment.
Manage day-to-day engineering operations, including scrum ceremonies and sprint planning.
Define and execute the development roadmap in alignment with business objectives and customer needs.
Collaborate with stakeholders and cross-functional teams to understand requirements, gather feedback, and communicate progress.
Manage project timelines, resource allocation, and budgeting to ensure timely delivery.
Conduct regular one-on-one meetings to provide feedback and support career development.
Monitor team performance and implement improvements to optimize efficiency.
Stay informed about industry standards, regulations, and security practices for subscriptions and payments.
Collaborate with DevOps and other engineering managers to improve deployments and monitoring of cloud-native applications.
Participate in hiring and onboarding to attract top talent.
Benefits Pay range for this position is listed. Actual pay will vary based on location, experience, and performance. Other rewards may include bonuses, retirement savings matching, and health benefits.
