About The Role We're looking for a commercially minded lawyer with deep rights-in content licensing experience to join our Legal team. In this role, you’ll focus on acquiring and licensing anime series, films, digital manga, and videogames. You’ll report to our SVP, Head of Business & Legal Affairs, and work closely with business leaders to bring anime to fans worldwide.
Key Responsibilities
Draft, negotiate, and manage rights-in content licensing, acquisition, and co-production agreements.
Advise on copyright, trademark, chain of title, and other IP issues in content deals.
Provide practical, business-focused guidance on content acquisitions.
Collaborate across content, distribution, marketing, finance, and product teams.
Maintain deal templates and ensure agreements align with internal policies and emerging legal issues.
We are considering applicants available to work a hybrid schedule, with three days each week onsite at our Los Angeles office.
About You
10+ years in rights-in content licensing, media/entertainment law, and IP transactions.
JD and active bar membership (CA or NY, or eligible in CA).
Experience in-house or at a top-tier law firm supporting major media, streaming, or entertainment companies.
Deep experience negotiating complex content acquisition/licensing-in agreements.
Strong IP and chain of title expertise.
Knowledge of TV, film, streaming, and digital media industries.
Excellent drafting, deal management, and communication skills.

The Pay Range for this position is listed. Actual pay will vary based on factors including, but not limited to location, experience, and performance. The range listed is just one component of Crunchyroll’s Total Rewards offerings for employees. Other rewards may include performance bonuses, employer matched retirement savings, time‑off programs, and progressive health benefits and perks.
