Overview
Location: Hotel Arista — Che Figata. Reports to: F&B Manager. Status: Hourly Non-Exempt. Compensation Range: $12-13/hour plus gratuity; guaranteed rate of $30/hour during service times. Role: Lead Server responsible for delivering elevated dining experiences, providing leadership and training to team members, and ensuring guest satisfaction through knowledgeable service of Italian cuisine and wine. Responsibilities
Completes all opening, closing, and running side work. Attends pre-shift meetings; leads pre-shift meetings with the team upon request. Provides exceptional, intuitive service and VIP guest care, with personalized attention to guests’ needs. Guides guests through the menu with knowledge of Italian cuisine, chef specialties, seasonal offerings, and wine pairings. Maintains expert-level knowledge of the restaurant’s wine list and assists with recommendations and pairings. Oversees daily floor operations and serves as point of contact for front-of-house matters during shifts. Supports and mentors servers to maintain consistent service standards, pacing, and professionalism. Communicates effectively with kitchen and management to ensure seamless service flow. Upholds ambiance and cleanliness; sets up tables according to Che Figata standards. Handles guest concerns or service recovery with grace and urgency. Assists with server training, onboarding, and ongoing education, especially regarding wine knowledge and upselling techniques. Follows safety, sanitation, and cash handling policies; abides by all alcohol service requirements. Reports tips and settles bills with management; provides detailed POS reports as required. Understands and follows all cash handling regulations. Performs related duties as assigned. Minimum Qualifications
Education
High school diploma or equivalent Naperville & Illinois BASSET certification is required Illinois Food Handler Certification is required Prior completion of a formal wine training program (sommelier or WSET) is preferred Experience
3-5 years of upscale dining experience in a similar restaurant or hotel environment Strong understanding of luxury service standards Experience with Micros Simphony POS Leadership and communication skills with a guest-first mindset Advanced wine knowledge and experience with Italian wines Ability to multitask in a fast-paced, detail-oriented environment Flexibility to work nights, weekends, and holidays Skills
