Assistant or Associate Professor of Law / Lawyering Skills
— Seattle University School of Law Seattle University School of Law seeks applications to join our pioneering and highly-ranked legal writing program as a career faculty member. We encourage applications from candidates seeking appointment as a Tenure Track Assistant or Associate Professor of Law and from those seeking appointment as a Term Faculty Assistant or Associate Professor of Lawyering Skills. The anticipated start date is July 1, 2026. The successful candidate will be responsible for teaching, maintaining an active program of professional growth (such as participation in program-related regional, national, or international organizations or centers), and performing university and school service. If the successful candidate is appointed as a Tenure Track Assistant or Associate Professor, the candidate will also be responsible for maintaining a consistent and productive program of scholarly writing.
Responsibilities
Teach in Seattle University School of Law’s nationally ranked Legal Writing program, including the first-year course Legal Writing, Skills, and Values and the second-year course on persuasive writing and oral advocacy at the trial and appellate levels. Participate in program-related activities and countrywide or international professional communities to maintain an active program of professional growth. Engage in university and school service. Tenure Track candidates will also sustain an ongoing program of scholarly writing. Collaborate with a diverse, vibrant, and collaborative community that emphasizes leadership for a just and humane world.

Qualifications
Juris Doctorate from an accredited ABA institution. Preferred: At least five years of legal practice experience. Experience teaching legal writing or demonstrated enthusiasm and aptitude for such teaching. Evidence of engagement with relevant professional and academic communities.
