Overview Assistant or Associate Professor of Law

Seattle University School of Law seeks applications from candidates with expertise in immigration law to join our innovative and accomplished faculty as a Tenure Track Assistant or Associate Professor of Law. The anticipated start date is July 1, 2026.

Responsibilities The successful candidate will be responsible for teaching our Immigrant Justice Clinic and other doctrinal or skills courses that correspond to their interests and the school’s needs. The successful candidate will join our unified tenure-track system in which all clinical and doctrinal professors are expected to be outstanding teachers, maintain a consistent and productive scholarly program, and participate actively in university, school, and professional service activities. Our new hire will work closely with other members of our highly-ranked Ronald A. Peterson Law Clinic and with our many other accomplished scholar-teachers in allied fields.

Qualifications Required:

Juris Doctorate from an accredited ABA Institution.

Current license to practice or ability to be licensed by start of position.

Experience in immigration law practice

A record of scholarship or demonstrated potential for scholarly achievement.

Valued:

Clinical teaching experience or other significant responsibility for the professional development of lawyers.

Compensation Compensation at a Glance: Salary Range: $110,000- $155,000

Seattle University has provided a compensation range that represents its good faith estimate of what the University may pay for the position at the time of posting. The salary offered to the selected candidate will be determined based on factors such as the qualifications of the selected candidate, departmental budget availability, internal salary equity considerations, and available market information, and not based on a candidate’s gender or any other protected status.
