Overview
Site leader for the largest Spectrum Brands site in NA that produces over 75% of the annual sales in our Home & Garden business. The position will lead people and activities in the factory to achieve supply chain success. They own supply chain targets including service, cost, productivity, quality, NPD/EPD start-up, OSHE and employee engagement. This role inspires, develops, and leads the Vinita Park team to implement and sustain supply chain and category strategies including those in safety, quality, World Class Manufacturing, employee relations, performance management and development of talent. S/he is a critical member of Global Operations team and leads the development & sharing of best practices across the network and works across silos to deliver the Supply Chain KPIs. The campus produces 220MM consumer units annually with a value of over 350MM in COGS. The site includes 4 production locations, bulk chemical receiving, raw material warehousing, chemical blending, aerosol filling, and liquid bottling. Direct reports include 3 sr. production (area) managers, plant engineering manager, warehouse manager, and EHS manager with dotted line on site reports of Quality, HR, and Finance. The business is a seasonal business that works 24/7 in season and reduced schedules in the off season with a team of 250 – 400 hourly production employees, quality technicians, and temporary workers. Primary Duties & Responsibilities
As a leader of the site, develop plans to support the 3-year strategic growth plan of the H&G business. Increase production, assets capacity, and flexibility while minimizing unnecessary costs and maintaining quality standards. Model the Spectrum Brands values to achieve service excellence, meet and exceed organizational objectives and support fiscal responsibility. Foster a culture of equity, diversity, and inclusion where team members thrive Prepare and maintain operational budgets and resource requirements. Direct plant leadership team Ensure the selection, retention, and development of A-players. Upgrade of talent, where necessary, and provide ongoing leadership, oversight, coaching, and feedback to subordinates. Set performance goals with direct reports and monitor ongoing performance. Lay out targets that are aggressive but achievable. In keeping with the company’s current culture and environment, ensure ongoing commitment and drive towards a culture of excellence, accountability, DEI, and execution, while retaining an open, honest, and enjoyable workplace. Minimize accidents and lost time injuries by creating a positive attitude amongst staff for safety and providing prompt and effective action to eliminate unsafe acts or conditions as they become apparent. Facilitate good communication and foster a team approach to problem solving. Develop and recommend improvement plans concerning equipment, facilities, operations, and staffing. Financially accountable for the performance of all groups and areas managed. Ensure compliance with budgets and effectively communicate positive and negative variances. Identify continuous improvement opportunities and seek out ways to reduce cost. Ensure that products made within the plant are produced in accordance with applicable local, state and federal laws and regulations. Be willing to roll up their sleeves and be a player-coach. Education and Experience Profile
Four-year degree in Chemical, Industrial, Mechanical, or Electrical Engineering or equivalent experience, Master’s degree preferred. 12 years of management experience in a manufacturing environment preferably in CPG company. Prior experience leading a high volume manufacturing site. Required Skills
Experience in a consumer product goods and/or food/beverage/chemical organization is required. High speed Aerosol and/or Liquid filling experience is a plus. Strong leadership experience with proven results in manufacturing and supply chain. Lean manufacturing experience required. Clearly demonstrated ability to develop manufacturing methods to meet product cost targets. Strong ability to communicate effectively with employees at all levels of the organization. Strong written and oral communication, interpersonal, and organizational skills. Experience with Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint) and general computer proficiency. Capacity to work in a fast-paced environment with exceptional attention to detail. Solid analytical and mathematical skills. Ability to comprehend financial reports including budgetary guidelines, manufacturing labor and material standards and project expenditures. Ability to delegate and assign work, problem solve, answer questions and evaluate performance. Ability to exercise independent judgment and interact with maturity and professionalism with subordinates, peers, superiors and external organizations. Work Environment
