Position Description Seattle University invites applications for an exciting and dynamic opportunity to serve as the Assistant Director of Mentorship Programs within the Division of Academic and Student Affairs and the Career Engagement Office.
Reporting to the Director of Career Engagement, this role leads the design, implementation, and growth of career-aligned mentorship programs that connect Seattle University students with alumni, employers, and industry professionals. By fostering meaningful mentorship experiences, the Assistant Director advances the university's mission of professional formation, supporting student career readiness, professional identity development, and long-term relationship building.
The successful candidate will bring strong program management skills, experience in relationship cultivation, and a data-informed approach to strategy. A collaborative spirit and deep commitment to social justice, equity, and student success are essential.
Key Responsibilities (40%)
Provide strategic leadership for mentorship programs, ensuring alignment with institutional goals and values of inclusion, social justice, and student success.
Collaborate with campus partners, Alumni Engagement, academic departments, and external stakeholders to build and sustain robust mentorship networks.
Oversee program operations including policy and procedure development, publicity, training, and resource creation.
Coordinate, plan, and implement mentor and mentee onboarding and training sessions.
Collect, analyze, and report program data to inform continuous improvement and demonstrate impact.
Approve, monitor, and support participants to ensure high-quality, sustainable program experiences.
Lead program expansion initiatives, cultivating relationships and partnerships that extend the reach of mentorship across campus and beyond.
Stakeholder Engagement & Relationship Management (25%)
Collaborate with the Associate Director of External Relations to build and maintain relationships with alumni, employers, and industry professionals to diversify the mentor pool.
Collaborate with Alumni Engagement, Student Affairs, and faculty to identify opportunities for mentorship integration across the university.
Coordinate across campus to align mentor recruitment efforts, track alumni engagement, and ensure shared communication around mentorship activities.
Facilitate touchpoints (emails, optional events, office hours) with mentors and mentees to maintain momentum and troubleshoot as needed.
Provide training and support to mentors and mentees to ensure productive, inclusive, and sustainable relationships.
Student Experience & Support (15%)
Serve as the primary point of contact for student participants, offering support in the mentorship process, troubleshooting, and guidance throughout the mentorship cycle.
Collaborate with Career Education team in student learning and professional growth through mentorship by facilitating workshops, reflection activities, and goal-setting tools.
Develop culturally responsive materials and approaches that support the diverse identities and needs of Seattle University students.
Manage student recruitment for mentorship programs in collaboration with academic departments and student groups, focusing on historically underrepresented and first-generation student populations.
Assessment & Reporting (10%)
Collect and analyze program participation data, outcomes, and feedback to inform program improvements and report impact to stakeholders.
Support assessment efforts in alignment with Career Engagement's learning outcomes and the broader University outcomes.
Support evaluation of mentorship programs through surveys, focus groups, and data reporting, and recommend long-term strategies for scalability and quality improvement.
Marketing & Communications (5%)
Create compelling outreach materials to recruit student mentees and professional mentors.
Manage mentorship program promotion across digital platforms, events, and campus communication channels.
Develop messaging that distinguishes the career-focused mentorship program from academic or identity-based offerings and communicates a clear value proposition to students and mentors.
Teams (5%)
Actively participate in team and division-wide initiatives, professional development, and interdepartmental events.
Contribute to committees, training, and staff development.
Other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
Demonstrated success in developing mentoring programs/ coaching, and/or advising and creating and implementing educational, career-related, or relationship development programs.
Experience identifying and cultivating relationships with industry professionals, mentors, and/or alumni.
Exceptional interpersonal skills with the ability to build and maintain relationships across diverse constituencies, including students, alumni, faculty, university leadership, and industry professionals.
Strong project management skills and attention to detail.
Demonstrated commitment to social justice.
Excellent interpersonal and communication skills with a collaborative work style.
Familiarity with Microsoft Forms, Excel/Smartsheet, or CRM tools to manage participant data and track engagement is preferred.
Undergraduate degree in education, social sciences, business, or related field plus one to two years of experience in program coordination, student affairs, career services, alumni relations, or related field. Equivalent combinations of education and experience will be considered.

Compensation At a Glance
Salary Range: $62,000 - $64,000
Seattle University has provided a compensation range that represents its good faith estimate of what the University may pay for the position at the time of posting. The salary offered to the selected candidate will be determined based on factors such as the qualifications of the selected candidate, departmental budget availability, internal salary equity considerations, and available market information, and not based on a candidate's gender or any other protected status.
