Reporting to the Director of Student Financial Aid, this position oversees and supervises the work of the Student Financial Services (SFS) counselors. Responsibilities include scheduling, hiring, and training the SFS counselor team. The SFS team handles student awarding of federal, state, and institutional programs, compliance with packaging rules, presentations to prospective and current students and families, appointments, and management of specific financial aid programs. This role requires extensive knowledge of complex federal, state, and institutional aid programs, maintains an alpha caseload, analyzes student need and eligibility, interprets regulations, and ensures regulatory compliance and timely delivery of financial aid. The position is part of the management team and maintains policies and procedures related to program responsibilities. Essential Functions and Associated Tasks: Supervisory Role:

Lead and support a professional, efficient, service-oriented operation delivering a full range of financial aid services. Hire, train, and manage performance of the SFS counseling team; maintain current documentation for team procedures; manage schedules to ensure adequate coverage; respond to escalated issues; ensure compliance with FERPA and other regulations; prepare staff to meet information needs of SU students. (35%) Awarding:

Oversee the awarding processes for federal, state, and institutional aid programs; provide oversight for regulatory compliance, timely delivery, technical support, process documentation, audit review, and testing. (20%) Manage Awarding Timeliness and Accuracy:

Ensure accuracy of award packages and readiness of aid programs for quarterly disbursal; review awarding for billing compatibility, troubleshoot errors, and resolve discrepancies. (15%) Program Oversight:

Manage or oversee multiple student aid programs (e.g., State programs, Veterans Benefits, athletic aid, work-study, outreach, scholarships, education abroad, tuition remission); document procedures and processing. (10%) Leadership:

Maintain policies and procedures for financial aid operations; participate in the SFS leadership team; represent Seattle University at external meetings and with Department of Education and Washington Student Aid Council officials; collaborate with stakeholders across campus and the community; act as backup to the Director as needed. (5%) Other duties as assigned. Qualifications

Bachelor's degree and five years of experience in an area demonstrating supervisory responsibilities or an equivalent combination of education and experience; advanced knowledge of Title IV aid policies and state aid programs. Experience interpreting complex policies and developing procedures to ensure compliance; strong customer service orientation; ability to resolve complex problems creatively and timely. Advanced problem identification, critical thinking, and decision-making skills. Ability to troubleshoot financial aid and student accounts issues; work independently and with others. Desktop PC, ERP system, and Microsoft Office Suite proficiency. Knowledge of academic and personal counseling techniques. Ability to establish and maintain effective relationships with students, families, faculty, staff, and community groups. Strong written and verbal communication skills, including report preparation, active listening, persuasion, and negotiation. Preferred Qualifications

Experience with Ellucian Colleague ERP. Bilingual (Spanish preferred). Application Instructions

Salary Range: $78,000 - $83,000 Seattle University provides a compensation range that represents a good faith estimate of the pay. The final offer will consider qualifications, budget, internal equity, and market information. Benefits at a Glance
